Control Amarok/Volume from screen saver
Plasma Screenshots
Description:

This screenshot demonstrates one of the uses of Plasmoids on the Screen Saver, a new feature in KDE 4.2. I often like to turn on some music, lock my screen, and listen to it while I do chores around the house. With this, my roommates and friends can see what's playing (via a Now Playing or PlayWolf plasmoid) and mute/turn down the volume if the music is bothering them and I've walked away.

Since there isn't yet a Volume Plasmoid that I'm aware of, I used three Icon plasmoids at the bottom of the screen, linked to shell scripts that lower the volume, toggle mute, and raise the volume using qdbus. Hopefully someone will make a PulseAudio plasmoid in the near future to make a better solution.

This is a really great idea. In all my pining for the return of visualizers to Amarok, I can't believe I never thought of this; something from the Really Slick Screensavers collection and I'm set.
