"Service Temporarily Unavailable"?

You need to find better hosting.

Report

It really needs a better hosting, but that's the best we can get currently.
I've already contacted the support team about this problem, the server seems to be under maintenance and should be back up soon. In the meantime please use google code to get the package:

Hi there!

First of all: I love this plasmoid. There is just on thing missing, a plugin which can switch between your virtual desktops, similar to the mac one. To illustrate this idea, I have uploaded a screenshot to kde-brainstorm:

http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Desktop+Switcher+for+the+Daisy-Plasmoid?content=115884

Maybe Lechio or someone else is able to realize it?

That's a great idea. The pager is an important plugin, and should be implemented soon. Don't know if I could implement it the way it is shown in the concept but will give it a go. :)
Thank you for making the concept.

Hi,
is there some kind of rss feed that advises about new releases of daisy??

Report

Hi there,

Currently the updates for Daisy are made once a month (normally) and are issued near the end of the month. But I believe it's possible to subscribe to a topic here in kde-look by becoming a fan of the project.
Regards.

Hi!,
really great job :)

I have a question:
how can i modify or change circular-background.svgz?

I've tried with Inkscape but with no good result.

Report

Lechio

Hi,

It can be edited with Inkscape (I'm using it to make the backgrounds). All it takes is to replace the objects with others of your preference (don't forget to embed the images if you are importing them). The backgrounds are cached, it may be necessary to remove Daisy from the desktop and restart the plasma desktop for changes to appear.
Some new backgrounds are going to be added for circular role.

Regards.

I think that hiding the dock is useful to take maximum advantage of the screen, but when I try to reach the dock I would like it to appear above all the open windows in there, otherwise it remains hidden (below the windows) and it is not that useful because I have to move/minimize those windows

This is a very requested feature for Daisy, the option to cover windows. It's not available yet as it requires major changes to the applet. It's being worked on.
Regards, and thank you for taking the time to comment.

hi!

I would like to thank you because maintaining this nice application

However from time to time plasma-widget-daisy 0.0.4.21 makes plasma desktop crash in karmic and I would like to have this problem fixed as soon as possible.

I filled a bug in kde, but kde developers recommended me to send this information directly to you. here there is the information I got from the crash, I hope it is useful to solve the issue:

Hi,

Thanks for reporting it. It's the same error as reported above and it seem to be related with libtaskmanager by looking at the debug output:
../../../libs/taskmanager/task.cpp:407

This is a KDE library, not included in Daisy. Daisy uses this library to access tasks. If this isn't a bug from Daisy, there's nothing I can do about it.
I'm not experiencing this bug on my system, it becomes harder to know for sure what's going on.

Regards.

Love this plasmoid, but it's crashing plasma for me in Kubuntu 9.10 any time I use synaptic and cause synaptic to open a dialog.

The error in the backtrace looks like this:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
TaskManager::Task::icon (this=0x0, width=32, height=32, allowResize=true) at ../../../libs/taskmanager/task.cpp:407
407 ../../../libs/taskmanager/task.cpp: No such file or directory.
in ../../../libs/taskmanager/task.cpp

I narrowed it down to daisy after trial and error, even with the task manager disabled having daisy running on my desktop results in this crash.

Hi there.

I'm trying to reproduce this, without any luck so far. Doesn't behave like that on my system when opening dialogs in synaptic. Does it behave like that only for synaptic?

Looking at the log, this issue seems to be related with libtaskamanger.

The problem has gone away after subsequent KDE updates, so it must have been a KDE issue.

Hi. Your project has been really helpful for me - not only because of Daisy, but also because of the install.sh file you included, and which I use for literally all KDE plasmoids, themes and apps. Glad to see you improved it a little sinve the lastest version, I'll use the updated one ;)

(PS.: You could try to talk to kde-look administrators to make it easily accessible - maybe make it stickied on top of the "Plasmoids" "Themes/Styles" parts? I'm saying this because it really makes it easier for a beginner to install things. Simply "./install.sh" and you're done)

This updated build script wasn't written by me, I've just borrowed it. We have do thank Emdek for it. :)
That would probably be a good idea to have a build script included in a tutorials section, along with some other tips and tricks for Plasma.
There's a forum here on kde-look, I guess it could be a place to start asking or posting about this.

The background shown on the screenshot is a new background, included with latest 0.0.4.21 version. Download the new version and compile it from source to get it if there aren't any binary packages available for openSUSE yet. :)
