Description:

Oxygen-Gtk is a port of the default KDE widget theme (Oxygen), to gtk.

Its primary goal is to ensure visual consistency between gtk and qt-based applications running under kde. A secondary objective is to also have a stand-alone nice looking gtk theme that would behave well on other Desktop Environments.

Unlike other attempts made to port the kde oxygen theme to gtk, this attempt does not depend on Qt (via some Qt to Gtk conversion engine), nor does render the widget appearance via hard coded pixmaps, which otherwise breaks everytime some setting is changed in kde.

Hosting:
- tarballs are hosted on kde ftp servers
- git repository is hosted at https://projects.kde.org

Hi thank you for your response.
I didn't find a solution for this. So I switch to oxygen-molecule for now. I hope the next version of LO would fix this problem.

Future versions won't fix this. This really is a bug of packaging, not libreoffice itself.
You can work around it by removing (or renaming) libstdc++.so and libcairo.so files in libreoffice dir (usually /opt/libreoffice/.... - use find to locate them, but be careful to not remove system ones).

Report

Not sure it's a bug in packaging libreoffice. Both using the same libstdc++ here:

>ldd /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin |grep c++
libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6

>ldd /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/liboxygen-gtk.so |grep c++
libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6

This good package you use might be specific to your distribution. AFAIR official libreoffice has its own libstdc++.so as well as libcairo.so (and a bunch of other libs) with it.

Report

mld

yes, it's from the debian repos.

Nevertheless, like firefox, libreoffice is drawn without the radial highlight. Also in both apps menus have shadows, while it should be plain.

I know firefox (thunderbird, seamonkey and libreoffice) not being a true gtk app is a nightmare to support, but plain pixmap themes like e.g. oxygen-molecule do look less out of place.

But I can live with that, just want to report, it's not only the lib linking issue. ;-)

Libreoffice, like firefox, also isn't gtk app. It uses its custom toolkit, which only needs gtk or qt to draw widgets (or uses its own theme).
About shadows, i don't know what you think is wrong. Looks ok for me.

Report

mld

Normally all menus with oxygen-gtk are drawn on my box without an underlying shadow. (plain)

In firefox, seamonkey, or libreoffice they have shadows. I believe it might be a incompatibility with compiz, or something to do with handling those"round" and "non round" menus.

Sounds like a bug. Let me see a screenshot of normal gtk app menu and libreoffice/firefox menu on your system.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but resize grips (bottom right corner) on Firefox and Chrome look odd when using this theme. On Firefox, it's a black triangle, and on Chrome, it's a gray square. Is this bug or is this just because these apps aren't true GTK apps?

Report

Which version of firefox and google chrome ? Mine show no resize grip at all, and hence no black triangles either.

In fact, would be best if you report this as a bug at https://bugs.kde.org, and possibly provide screenshots.

Thanks in advance !

Thanks for quick response. I'm using Firefox 4 and the latest Chrome from google's website on Kubuntu with kde 4.6.2. Someone has filed a bug report on this with Ubuntu.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk2-engines/+bug/746271

The screenshot, also from the bug report:

Not sure if this KDE, Firefox/Chrome, or Oxygen Gtk bug. I didn't notice before.

I recompiled and installed this theme from source and it made no difference.

This is certainly not a KDE bug: kde knows nothing about gtk, or gtk apps, and has no handle on the resize grip that applications paint or do not paint.

The fact that you also do see issues with QtCurve would tell me that this is not a theming style issue either, but since qtcurve and oxygen-gtk have some code in common, its not 100%.

Could you try with another simple (even if ugly) theme ? Like Raleigh ?
If this still shows issues, then its definitly not a theming issue. Either gtk, or the apps themeselves.

PS: like openoffice, firefox is not a pure gtk app (far from it in fact). As for google-chrome, it has a lot of custom code in there.

Report

theDecider

7 years ago

Raleigh has the same problem. It seems like apps such as Firefox and Chrome have their own resize handle/grip built-in and don't depend on Kwin decoration resize handle/grip. I'm curious if people who use Oxygen Gtk or QtCurve under Gnome have this problem.

Report

C

HugoPereira

7 years ago

Wait. Now I'm really confused.
KWin has *no* resize grip.
The oxygen decoration (Qt based) has one, which is made visible only if you select "no border" for the border size. Is this the one you are referring too ? If yes, this one would obviously be independent from the theming engine (oxygen-gtk, QtCurve, or Raleigh).

Here neither Firefox, nor google chrome show any resize grip.

PS: a screenshot would really really help here.

But anyway: since it appears also when using Raleigh, which is built-in gtk, this is _not_ an issue related to oxygen-gtk, nor Qt Curve. So here is not the right place to discuss the issue.

Report

theDecider

7 years ago

What I meant is that Firefox & Chrome have TWO resize handles at the bottom right corner: one from Kwin and one from the apps themselves. All other apps only have the one from Kwin. I'll post screenshots when I have a chance.

I want to add that this is an Ubuntu Natty specific problem. Its developers have patched gtk so that it draws a resize grip to every non-maximised gtk window.

XFCE is affected by this as well:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfdesktop4/+bug/709279

Since Natty is still beta, maybe you should contact its developers.

The following blog posting describes a way to deactivate those annoying resize handles:

http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/05/disable-the-resize-grip-in-ubuntu-11-04/

Long story short:
Add this to your ~/.gtkrc-2.0 respectively ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde4:

Quote:style "default-style"
{
GtkWindow::resize-grip-height = 0
GtkWindow::resize-grip-width = 0
}

class "GtkWidget" style "default-style"

It's working for me.

I am using oxygen-gtk in kubuntu via the repositories.

The trouble is, all my gtk apps take on the oxygen look but are still using the gnome default icons.

If I switch to oxygen-molecule or qtcurve then the same gtk apps then take on the oxygen icons, switching back to oxygen-gtk brings back gtk icons :(

Hello

First, bugs (or issues) are better reported at https://bugs.kde.org.

Second: can't reproduce here.
Could you

- try use the sources provided here and compile, and see if the problem persists
(this would rule out whether this is a kubuntu problem or an oxygen-gtk proble)

- if the problem persists, try recompile the code in debug mode (see README for instructions); run an application, save the log output, and post it on the web (e.g. on http://pastebin.com/

That should help figuring out which icon theme is loaded, from which file, etc.

Thanks in adv,

Hugo
