Crystal Clear
Icon Themes
Description:

Dear KDE Folks,

I have the pleasure to announce the new phase of Crystal Icon Theme that from now on will be called Crystal Clear. There are a lot of changes! Hundreds of new icons, support to the most known KDE games, and a lot of new things. The design style also was improved and updated to be more competitive with the market operational systems as well as the upcoming systems. I hope you like it!

As always I would like to thank some important people:

1- All the KDE users that always have supported my work and make my working nights really worth.
2- Linspire for the financial support of this project (you may not believe, but I have to eat so I keep living).
3- Nullmid, RELIO owner that kindly host online my projects.
4- God, for have gave me life and make all things possible.

It is Lispire Clear style (from Linspire Five-0), you can download it here on Kde-Look.org. Search for "Linspire".

as i said, the link(s) point to another version of that style, NOT to the one in the screenshot. and i like the screenshot style more than the current default linspire style (which you can download on this website, yes)

As far as i know this style is only a mockup and does not exist apart from in the "screenshot"

What's the licence of this great icons set?

I must agree with the comment above.
The icons are great, just the folders are bad chosen.
Normal files and folders have the same color, that's not good.
(and the folder-icon does not look good either)

The theme it's great, but please make any other color folder by default, silver/gray folders are unreadable, the get counfused with background and many mimetype icons, please use any other colour, if you don't want to abuse with blue folders (that are nice btw) but make them distinguable from other things

I made a kubuntu package for the Linspire Clear widget theme, Its only made with checkinstall after compiling using the above descibed procedure.Visit my page at:

linux-gis.co.uk

and look under the misc packages section. Read the accompanying notes first!

The INSTALL doc in the widget theme says to run ./configure - but no such file exists in the tarball. Can someone give better instructions (installing on kubuntu here)

Thanks

Hi again

Ok so with a bit of hacking around I figured it out. I tried to add this using the 'post additional howto link' but it seems to have disapeared into the ether....so here it is:

The INSTALL documetn in the clearcase widget theme doesnt give very good directions so here is my take on the process (carried out on kubuntu 5.0.4).

1) Make sure you have automake1.6 and kdebase-dev packages installed:

sudo apt-get install automake1.6 kdebase-dev

2) Temporarily set automake1.6 to be the default:

sudo update-alternatives --config automake

You will see some info like that shown below:

There are 3 alternatives which provide `automake'.

Selection Alternative
-----------------------------------------------
+ 1 /usr/bin/automake-1.4
* 2 /usr/bin/automake-1.8
3 /usr/bin/automake-1.6

Press the appropriate number to make 1.6 the default

3) Generate the configure scripts using the Makefile.cvs:

make -f Makefile.cvs

4) Revert your automake to the original setting (if desired):

sudo update-alternatives --config automake

You will see some info like that shown below:

There are 3 alternatives which provide `automake'.

Selection Alternative
-----------------------------------------------
+ 1 /usr/bin/automake-1.4
2 /usr/bin/automake-1.8
* 3 /usr/bin/automake-1.6

In my case I pressed 2 to get my system back to using automake 1.8

5) Run the configure script:

./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`

6) Run make and hope it builds ok:

make

7) Install:

sudo make install

8) Use the kcontrol panel to change to the new theme.

I thought that you had removed these linspire buttons?

The iconset is Beautiful!!!

The SVG Download has the LGPL license contained in the folder, but the Crystal Clear download does not.

Is the Crystal Clear (CrystalClear.tar.gz) download also LGPL? The license section in the content page is also empty...

Thanks,
- Ole

Compilation on SuSE 9.3
requires you to modify
admin/detect-autoconf.sh
as well as admin/cvs.sh

In both files change "1.6"
to "1.9", then do
Make -f Makefile-cvs

then
configure --prefix=/opt/kde3
make
make install
