Description:

Skulpture is a GUI style addon for KDE programs. It features a classical three dimensional artwork with shadows and smooth gradients to enhance the visual experience.

Skulpture has been designed to be light and easy on eyes; many distracting borders or graphical elements have been removed or replaced by simpler artwork. See NOTES and README for additional information.

Skulpture is released as source code under the GNU GPL version 3 license; see INSTALL for installation instructions and COPYING for additional information.

Gentoo build kindly provided by Franz Fellner, Thanks! For binary packages, please check with your distribution.

Well, I also needed several iterations, and I am still not satisfied. Next Skulpture should have improved graphics for checkboxes and radiobuttons, which look a bit blurry and wired with some color schemes. The intention was to have a "glow effect", but I miserably failed at that :)

Easy on eyes, very polished, attractive.
Awesome work Skulptor!

Hi ohcalcutta, nice to see that you are still using Skulpture :) Did you manage to get rounded buttons? If you like, you can try 0.1.9.x snaphots, I hope to make some progress in the next weeks.

Thanks dimsuz, I am still a bit busy, but autumn holidays are nearing, and I plan to continue working on Skulpture then.

Hi and congratulations on the good work.
I have upgraded to kde 4.1.1 and I was waiting for the skulpture window decoration to appear in settings as ansani told me that I mast have kdebase-workspace 4.1.0-1 (now I have 4.1.1-0). Bat sadly, it didn't. If there is a way to resolve this problem it would be wonderful. Thank you for your attention.

Hi nick,
there you can find package compiled for kde 4.1.1 :)

http://ansani.it/debian/dists/experimental/contrib/binary-i386/kde411-style-skulpture_0.1.3-1_i386.deb

Yes, I'm so faaaaaaaaaaaaaast :)

Enjoy,
Salvatore

I'm not getting any window decoration option either and that package didn't help. :(

Me to, I removed the old package, installed the new, restarted X. But sadly I didn't find the window border decoration in the settings

(K)Ubuntu probably uses different paths for KDE 4 than Debian (for whatever reason), so if you cannot get the Debian package working, please install from source until this problem is resolved.

You need package kdebase-workspace-dev to build it from source, also see INSTALL file.

Thanks, the source package was very easy to compile and install and it worked perfect. :)

I removed the Kubuntu download link.

The Debian package only works for the Qt 4 style, not for the KDE 4 additions (decoration etc.) because (as was my guess) Kubuntu has different KDE 4 paths as Debian.

We will have to wait until someone is able to create Kubuntu packages.

In the meantime, you could install the Debian package, and then copy some files as described by http://skulpture.maxiom.de/playground/skulpture-debian2kubuntu.sh

Please give feedback, if this fixes the installation.

I didn't run the script but I read the copy paths and copy them manually. The $KDE_PREFIX is /usr/lib/kde4/

And It is working! Very nice art!

Thanks for the prompt feedback, nickkefi. Could you be so kind and test if the Kubuntu package http://skulpture.maxiom.de/playground/kde4-style-skulpture_0.1.3-2_i386.deb works? Please remove any copies of Skulpture (old package and your copied files) before testing. Thanks in advance!

The package show me these errors:

dpkg-deb: file `/home/nick/deb/kde4-style-skulpture_0.1.3-2_i386.deb' is not a debian binary archive (try dpkg-split?)
dpkg: error processing /home/nick/deb/kde4-style-skulpture_0.1.3-2_i386.deb (--install):
subprocess dpkg-deb --control returned error exit status 2

THX for the new 0.1.9.10-Build. The new Progressbar look amazing and match almost perfect. But I want to ask you two things:

1. The text from the Progressbar that shows the free space in Dolphin have the same colour (white) as the background. This is not helpfull because the text above of the free space can not be read. A grey or black text would be better.

2. I would prefer to have in Dolphin a Favorite/Places-Sidebar on the left side, that have the same Background-Colour as the Info-Panel on the right side. I think it would fit better if both sidebars have the same Background-Colour.

Is it possible to "hack" the skulpture.cpp like this way?

I'm using Ubuntu with KDE 4.1. I downloaded the Ubuntu package, installed it (with --force-architecture because I have amd64) with no problems... but it just doesn't appear on the list of widget styles in KDE settings. Is it because I have an amd64 processor, or is there some other reason? :(

Report

ansani

I think problem is different arch, because package is compiled (and linked) with i386 32bits library.

If I can, I'll upload soon debian package for 64 bit environments.

Salvatore

Concur with Rob! this is one of the most complete themes ever! u have put a lotta effort in turning this theme out mate! greatly appreciated! now ne new themes from ya? :D

Report

skulptor

Thank you, skinwalker, for agreeing with Robert, but I don't understand why you say it is a complete theme, have a look at what Azenis includes!

Regarding "new themes": Since school started this week, there will be not much time left for hacking, so do not expect anything new for a while. I will try to improve Skulpture, as long as there are ideas for improving it. If you have ideas, please share :)

I never install a theme with square buttons
and square windows... cause they all
suck!

And I wasn't gonna install this either,
I don't know what turned my head...

...Now when I have it installed I do not
want to change to another theme :D

It's by far the most usable theme on this
site!

You sure seem to know what you are doing,
I liked the progressbar effect :D

I really hope we are going to see more
from you man!
Maybe more options for like some rounded
buttons or stuff like that...
Anyway, I know you are doing this for free
and we are all very thankful for what you
are doing, well at least I am!

Thanks!

//Robert

Hi Robert, thank you for your comment! I am sorry for converting you to a square theme ;)

Anyway, for further customization (button roundness etc.) please download the "Skulpture Hacking Document". If you have more wishes/ideas for future versions, please let us know.
