Better solution:

rename "s/\([0-9][0-9]\)/0$1/" *

puts a 0 in front of all two digit numbers in filenames. - Jun 12 2006

For some constructive criticism, the perspective on the shadows looks a bit odd and makes the whole picture look strange to me. If you could skew the shadows the same way the background's skewed then it'd look a lot better. - May 30 2006

I might seem a bit greedy but do you have a copy of the picture that's less corrupted to put up? It's an amazing picture but it seems to be spoiled by the large amount of artifacts. - Mar 06 2006

The only problem I can see, though it might just be me, but the perspective of the logo characters and perhaps the SUPER WOOFER on the first pic seems a bit off. The woofer itself and the screw seems to be pointing a bit to the bottom left of the picture, but the logo is pointing straight at the camera.

Brilliant work though, really great! - Mar 02 2006

KompMgr is what is used for translucency and shadowing. You can enable it through the control centre - desktop->window behavior. The only catch is some apps don't like it (most notably for me superkaramba) I've been looking for this for a while, thanks mate to the author! - Oct 03 2005

I have a request: Is it possible to remove the border when fully maximised? I think it looks quite good having a mediumly large border (5-10) for normal windows but for maximum windows it doesn't work. Could you please make an option to either decrease the border for maximised windows or remove it totally? - Jul 28 2005

The problem he had with the picture is that you're not allowed to place a character which is copyrighted (in this case Hitomi from Dead or Alive) unless you have express permission from the author (Namco). If they put the picture of the character up on the internet saying explicitly that you can use it in whatever way you want then that's fine, otherwise you're in breach of copyright and that's against the web site rules.

It doesn't matter if the rest of the picture is your own work and you just put the character into the picture, it's still illegal to do this in most countries including where the KDE-Look servers are located. - Jul 26 2005
Though I love your wallpaper as much as I love Hitomi :), you aught to be careful about posting stuff like that on here. I'm not sure if Namco have put pictures like that in the public domain, but if not then you've broken the rules. - Jul 26 2005

hmm it works for me. Perhaps you have a really old version of the PIL. What distro do you have? - Jul 04 2005
sorry but superkaramba won't let me do that with this theme. I can't even make it show it normally at the bottom when you hover the mouse over the picture without killing the CPU (it'd do mediumly complex calculations with every mouse move). I could make it display the image name under the picture if you want but it'd not like really long image names - they'd overlap... - Jul 04 2005
hi,
First one is a bug in superkaramba it seems. I've got the same problem but it does exactly the same thing with other themes going through the KDE control panel.

For the second one, I haven't made the background automatically resize to the width and height. To do this you have to add two lines. Firstly on line 123 of the script add a new line after the karamba.createImage call:

karamba.resizeImage(widget, backgroundid, width, height)

To make it so it automatically resizes the new background when you change it add the same line at what's now line 315 before the redrawWidget line. To make it so it automatically resizes the background when you change the number of rows or columns add the same line on line 389 before updateImages(widget).

I didn't make it resize the background mostly because it looked better without it resized with cynapses on my desktop. - Jul 04 2005
Do people think it'd be better to copy the image files to the theme directory? An advantage of this would be it wouldn't be susceptable to deleting the images and I could make thumbnails of the images for faster loading times and lower memory usage. But it'd take space and make a bit of clutter. It'd also require the Python Imaging Library as a dependency. I'm on holidays and it'd be extraordinarily easy to do, so anyone want me to do it? - Jul 03 2005
You can safely remove the --multiple from the kdialog command string. Just remove it from the list.

All it does is make it so you can add many images by using the control button, but it's not necessary if you only want to add one image, kdialog just won't let you use the control button to select many.

The command string is about three quarters of the way down by memory. It's in a big list. Come to think of it, just search for "--multiple" :)

If you *really* want to select many images you can try updating your system, not sure what packages need to be updated though for Suse (I use Debian). - Jul 01 2005
Added the scroll wheel support - good idea. I was actually going to do it before but naturally forgot about it.

I don't really want to store the files locally. It's a waste of space and clutters the directory. I'll perhaps add support for tiles etc but I *do* have a test in twelve hours so you'll have to wait about sixteen hours for that. The status of the thing will be stored locally in the file though. If you really want it to locally store the files I'll perhaps add it as an option or an easily changable variable in the script... - Jun 28 2005

That is a great applet that you've made. I have one suggestion though - could you make it so if you press it once then it'd open, but if you press it again it'd close again? (it seems to close then re-open.) That would make things consistant with the normal kicker menus. - Jun 20 2005

hi,
I've updated it increasing the error checking on the themes etc so it *should* perhaps work...
If it still doesn't work could you please open it up in the console and see if there are any error messages getting put through the console?

There shouldn't be any big dependencies - I only import os, karamba and numeric. - Jun 02 2005
(sorry for the late reply)

he he

I am actually a Soft Eng so yeah I know how to do the arrays and such (It was actually the first time I'd used python - google was definitely my friend!), but you wouldn't believe how long it took me to try and get your art so it looked remotely good. I like the look of this skin, and the simplicity. It's great how you display all the buttons simply and pretty cleanly. I have doubts about the progress meter (too out of the way, hard to spot, and hard to read at a glance) but otherwise it's great. - Sep 24 2004
