@aldobelus, The system I use is not a kernel and GNU only. There should be "Time for GNU/systemd/Linux. Or GNU/systemd/gtk/linux

It could say more if, instead of "Time for Linux", it showed "Time for GNU" or "Time for GNU/Linux"...

Remember: the system is not a kernel only. The system is GNU; the kernel is Linux. We do wrong when, over and over, repeat the mistaken name for this beauty, given by a very wide community.

Repeat over the net, please... We can change the wrong, let's do it! ;-)

Do I do the same as above to change my screen image? I'm using Fedora 13 KDE.

I'm assuming this image would show up once applied when I get to Grub in the boot process and choosing the OS to use. If so, how do i use this to be displayed instead of the blue background?

Assuming you haven't figured this out yet...

As root, create a directory under /boot/grub (I called mine splashimages)

As root, copy the *.gz file to this directory.

As root, edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst file.

Add the following entry (I put it below default 0 and above ## timeout sec):

# splashimage
splashimage=(hdx,y)/boot/grub/splashimages/watch.xpm.gz

Note: Replace x and y in (hdx,y) in the above line with the numbers you see in the # groot=(hdx,y) entry)

Pic's design really great :)
More "linux touch" would make it better in IMHO. Like, hum.. a tux sign somewhere in the swatch!

Thank you for the feedback.

I didn't want to muck with the actual image, even though no copyright was provided by the original artist. This is a very clean Grub bootsplash, and the simple "Time for Linux" says it all.
