Description: A splash screen for KDE that mimics the Kubuntu Plymouth splash screen theme, so you get a nice flicker-free and consistent system startup experience.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a QML-based splash screen and no traditional KSplashX theme! For you this means: You need at least KDE 4.8 to use this theme!
INSTALLATION: Extract the folder in the archive to /usr/share/kde4/apps/ksplash/Themes Go to System Settings → Workspace Appearance → Splash Screen and choose “Kubuntu”. Enjoy!
As of KDE 4.8 Beta 2 it is not yet possible to test this theme in the System Settings module. To test it, enter “sudo ksplashqml Kubuntu --test” at a Konsole.
(I do not intent to violate any copyrights by using the Kubuntu logo; the graphics are packaged only for convenience and are simply the ones used in the Plymouth theme in /lib/plymouth/themes/kubuntu-logo)
No problems on Kubuntu 11.10 / KDE 4.8 b2.
Good job but i think kslash should be something different than plymouth, something connected to login screen etc ;)
This is why I also use a KDM theme that looks similar to the Plymouth theme, i.e. the blue background gradient :)
I also modified the “Minimalistic” KSplashQML theme so it first fades from the blue background to the black background and then shows that rotating gear ;) You should give it a try. Look at the code, it’s simple.

Thank you. The splash is working fine with the Kubuntu 12.04 (alpha), KDE 4.8 (beta2).
