Thanks to Aaron Siego for his daily blog entries - they encouraged me to program this shining piece of software! B-)

Please note that it's probably necessary to restart Plasma if you update this plasmoid!

I am new to linux and would like to install this in my kade but not how anyone could help me?
Hi HERGUZAV, sorry for the late answer... ...it's very simpe -- just follow these 2 steps: 1. INSTALL Panel -> Cashew Nut -> Add Widgets -> Get New Widgets... -> Download new Plasma Widgets -> Search: Matrix -> Install 2. ACTIVATE Panel -> Cashew Nut -> Add Widgets -> Choose... Thanks for trying, have fun & regards, Gerardo
I just downloaded the plasmoid and tried it. But it runs horrible slow and causes 100% cpuload. I guess it is because I run kde without desktop effects/composite, but really 100% cpuload is too mutch is there no other way to speed it up?
Hi ibuscher, give the new version a try! I improved the performance regarding "custom color settings" and "transparency" a lot... ...I hope you are lucky :-)
just tested and the new version is really a lot faster, still eats to mutch cpu for battery use, but good job!
On my laptop I set the Matrix speed to "very slow" (using the configuration menu). As result I get a perceived cpu load of pretty much 0% ;-)
Nice widget. Kudos.
Seems the link still points to v.0.3. m0nk
Hi bitcrazy, well, I just tested the link and ... it points to V0.4! Did you restart Plasma? Greetings, Gerardo
Whoops, please see V0.4.1 comment...
Great work, version 0.2 looks indeed much better.
Thanks! The next version will bring you more customizing features...
When resizing a plasmoid, it doesn't adjust to new plasmoid size. This is probably just because of incompletion of plasmoid, I assume. Secondly, if plasmoid is reloaded, it doesn't show anything, leaving plasmoid window completely empty.
Hi mreloads, @resizing: are you sure, that matrix plasmoid V.02 is running? If so - the matrix should adjust to new plasmoid size a moment later... (not?) If not, try to restart KDE so that changes between V.01/V.02 could take place. @reloading: that's right! I'll try to fix that in the following release :-)
Oh, right. I was using v0.1. Updated, now it works very well. It would be interesting to see how this will evolve (assuming it will) and which direction development could take.
It will ... of course! ;-)
Reloading should work now :-)
I was thinking of making a wallpaper plugin for the matrix as well. But never got around to it. Still, nice work.
This says it is GPL but where is the source?
Hi tbaher, well, this program is a Plasmoid Script! Therefore the source code is included in the package automatically (e.g. JavaScript-Code). So, if you want the source code, just extract the package and there it is ;-)
when clicking on settings and then on OK, plasma crashed im using kde 4.4
Hi Schiwi, I can confirm that - the same happened to me (KDE 4.4). Thanks for this hint! I'll try to fix that before the next release... Fortunately there are no settings to do till now ;-)
Fixed :-)
Any chance of creating a wallpaper plugin of this? That would be totally epic!
Hi Znurre, what do you mean with wallpaper plugin? Are you thinking of a background image (behind the characters of the matrix)? Regards, Gerardo
