In the never ending fight for freedom, I'll post a script I made to get all the smileys from smileycentral.com. Get it while you can, b/c I may take it down soon.
Enjoy!

Just run the script:
./getsmileys 67
Since it appears that there are around 67 there, and it will download them into an appropriate sub directory for you.
Well, you could do that, but my test using convert from ImageMagick doesn't pull all the images out of a animated .gif very well. That being said, each .gif would have however many png's as there are frames for each animated gif.
So 1 gif = 9 pngs or so.
Hi,
first: Thankx, very nice!
sec: How difficult is it to make the white background transparent? And how to do it automatically (67 smilies are quite a lot...)?
Thankx a lot.
you can actually get kopete to do animated emoticons - just rename a gif to .png and use it in an emoticon theme. i dled the crystalmess theme and then swapped some of the pngs for my own and some of the pngs i used were renamed moving gifs - i get earthworm jim animated when someone does a 'grr' face!
well, this does not seem to work for me. i downloaded the moving gifs from smileycentral.com, renamed them to png and used an modified emoticons.xml file... but kopete does not show the icons in the chat window :-(
Check out the Yahoo emoticons (available directly in Kopete using KNewStuff). They are already animated gifs. MNGs are supported too.
Now get busy making some themes!
I could easy animate those useing inkscape swftools and svg2swf but as far as getting them into kopete ahh i wish i had that skill ming support would rule.
No, he didn't. If you still view your ads(I have mine blocked), you'd see advertisements featuring these emotes. They have spyware involved too... (Reminds me why I use Linux :D)

great! could you modify this script, so that it automatically saves the icons as .png's and not as gif?

Ok, I downloaded. But now how can I add these to Kopete? Thanks

Yeah, that would be really cool. Kopete should just add support for MNG format smilies. That'd be all, and I think it's kinda easy to realize.
