Aren't these emoticons copyrighted by Microsoft..? I don't believe these can be distributed freely under the GPL..
Thanks I needed that! good job and easy install!!! Keep up the good work
At least the screenshot looks like the emoticons are just copied from Windows. This can be done easier, there exists a shell script that downloads them from M$ for you and installs them in Kopete. With working transparency and animation.
I never said they were original. I just adapted an amsn theme (I don't have any idea where he got the icons, but he possibly copied from MSN website) for my personal use, and decided to share. Never heard of this script, but if it works as you say, it's probably a way better solution.
Here the script if it's any intrest: http://members.optusnet.com.au/lbramsay/misc/msn_kopete.html Remember to run it as your user and not root (I did that mistake. :D)
Actually now that I test the using the stuff I downloaded with the script a bit further it seems like the commands for the smileys (like :) and :o) doesn't work, so I guess it's crap. :P
i'm a bit of a dummy for this, anyway i ran the script and i don't like the results - not just because only some of the emoticons work, but because the ":/" gets animated in every link that i'm sent, so i have to copy it instead of just clicking. how do you uninstall this? i've tried just erasing the .xml file but it doesn't work.
Is there anyway the emoticons can have transparent backgrounds rather than the white??
I didn't see that the background was white instead of transparent. Once I have time I'll change this.
just what i wanted. domo arigato sir !
thanks for these. At least I can see the correct icons windows users use now!
You're welcome. That was the idea of making this theme, specially because many friends of mine are using emoticons on their screen names.
