Description:
Actually NO MORE only a mockup.
(download the decoration here....)
Third screenshot is a mockup.
Thanks motyR for deKorator.
I wanted something different in my desktop, I wanted it to transmit the
feeling of "cold". You can see how buttons appears with my color scheme and
how the highlight of the decoration button look in the second preview image
(the maximize button is hovered with the mouse,is a nice effect of dekorator).
I drawed all this deco in inkscape.
Style is qtcurve "glass style".
You can find the color scheme of the screenshots at :

i really like the old buttons as well, could u include it in the tarball, put it in an alternate dir like "buttons2" then i would be able to choose them from the path's tab. and the black version Please upload it it's so sexy:)
gimme some days for black one, I want to release it when it's 100% finished and actually the 3d effects are too light-colored, I hope to finish it in 2 days.
Sure thing:)
Agreed, I really like the looks of the old buttons better.
Added a new mockup as third image, some "more classical" buttons that turns blue to green when hovered and to red when clicked (minimize button is hovered in the mockup). Please comment so I can decide if these are good or it's better to return to old concept. (for multicolor: seems motyR did a wonderful work out of my hue-colorizing idea, so I'm planning just an onyx (black) release since the blue color will probably be changeable in deKorator 0.3)
Looks amazing (per usual for you). I can't wait for Onyx, that will me terrific, will you be re-doing your ChaNinja Icon port to refelct the Onyx as well? I am torn on the various button ideas, and I had an idea as well, but you showed all of this these before I could make a mockup. I think the best route, would be, like I said before, make a different release for each major difference (kind of like how there is Plastik for deKorator and now Plastik-Thin) if you understand what I saying. Basically, the idea I had for different colors, not a way to change the colors of the theme, but a different release of the theme in different colors. (i.e. - SilverChill-Blue, SilverChill-Green, SilverChill-Onyx, each as a different release or package). As far as the buttons go, I like both the button color matching the color in the title bar, and Silver, so it's hard to say. The idea I thoought of was, you know how you "curved" them in the 2nd mockup?.. Keep the "X" (close window) with the curve going to the left, make the middle buttons (Restore/Maximize and Minimize) rounded at the bottom and the one on the left button (Help or Minimize) with the curve going towards the right. I think the overall effect would be interesting. I hope I explained that correctly without a mockup
I understand, but releasing a lot of different packages to change just the blue areas would be a big waste of resources, while the "hue colorizing method" can save a lot: silver stays silver and blue changes to green, red, purple, or wathever you want in just some clicks, and for onyx, onyx will stay onyx and still the other color (I think an orange-red will be the base, onyxlava? ) can change to whatever you want. I'll add some explainin preview to the mockup before this evening.
For chaninja icon theme I'm unsure, if I find a good way to modify the chaninja script to auto generate an onyx version I'll upgrade, but's a difficult task and I can't directly modify the Chaninja theme without permissions, but Chaninja seems to be dead/dispersed/unwilling to reply all the mail I sent him on various address =( .
Getting 3 different shape buttons would be nice, but would force user to use that scheme and not,for example, swap buttons (having squared maximize at left of rounded minimize would be hugly), and this scares me a bit since already isn't a "really generic" deco....
Hi, ammmm there's no really need to force the user make few types of deco's just to switch colors while u can do it with a simple click inside deKorator. any way after implementing mattepiu hue shift ideas this is what i come up with: http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot1.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot2.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot3.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot4.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot5.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot6.png as u can see i was so happy to actually see it working that i took quiet a few snapshots:) bye
just a note for other themes that may benefit of this function: Kde-max (gray preserved) Titan-5 Lt (gray preserved, buttons and strips changed) Skroll (just button color change, preserving blacks) Dark-Look (gray buttons preserved) plastic thin (gray buttons preserved) there may be others, these are the ones I found =)
and here r some screenshots: http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot8.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot9.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot10.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot11.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot12.png http://www.cheetux.org.il/~motyr/hueShiftConcept/snapshot13.png BTW the black version looks Sexy:)
How do you change the color of the titlebar, buttons, etc like you've shown?
actually it's the implementation of mattepiu hue shift idea, this could be done with 0.3 with some new lovely Hue Shift animation button's hover type. cheers:)
I love this deco, but I'm put off by the shading and shape of the buttons. Could they use the same styling as the centre part where the window title is? This would make it perfect :)
Same styling means what? is the color, the buttons border too squared, the button signs too much "melted inside" or what? The gradient behind buttons is the same as the the title-center part.... You tell of "shading and shape". For the shape I think the issue is they are not "rounded", for the shading what improvement could they have, more contrasted? Please specify.
Please check third screenshot mockup and comment....
yep, that's what I meant. :) The rounding looks much sexier. I think the darker looking shading on the buttons previously was a result of the squared off edges. looks great now!
Ok, since you like number one (fist row in the mockup) I'll try to have full deco ready with that buttons in a pair of days. Stay tuned!
I just wanted to let you know how much I like your window decoration, and that I am now using it. I don't use the "Chaninja" icons/emblems like you do, but when I used Windows, it's what I used, and now i have a similar feel with KDE (most decorations have "rounded" top corners and super thick borders which I hate). So, from people that share my opinion, "Great Job!". Is it possible for you to make a revision with 2 more buttons (help and pin)? You seem to have forgotten those. Also, if possible, could you add other colors to this incredible design? Maybe "Green, Black, Red and a Chrome/Steel color"? Those additional color options would put this at the top of the game (in my opinion) and other button emblem choices/designs.
Thank you. For help and pin buttons, I just forgot *blush*, I'll check how other dekorator themes implements them and add. For differents colors actually there's a little issue: since theme is bicolored, nut one of the color has little saturation, the best way would be a script to change hue to the whole decoration (same as colorize kde function but for just the hue), since isn't implemented anywhere, I think I need to release whole new decorations packages (one for color, this limits the number....)
I should have elaborated a little bit on the color idea. What I meant was, different releases of the "base" theme in different colors (i.e. SilverChill-Blue, SilverChill-Green, SilverChill-Red, etc.). I also agree with the other post, about alternate buttons, or the emblems inside the buttons, but again, just make it an alternate version, since not everyone would agree. I had some issues with getting the QTStyle to match what you had in your screenshots, I couldn't get the bar with "File Edit View, etc" to match your colors in the screenshot and something seemed "not right", so I've been playing around with alternate styles and colorscheme edits to enhance what you've done so far. I'll put up some screenshots later, which I think would really showcase how one could implement your windec in various ways for a brilliant gui.
use latest QTcurve release (I'm using 0.30), glass settings for everything AND for menus (I choosed glass and then customized to add glass also to menu). For the hue issue (different color schemes) the whole png of the theme can be converted with "mogrify mockup.png -modulate 100,100,X" where last X is the shift value for the hue (eg: 50 for green, 200 does the same as 0). This is possible since theme has just one saturated color and one unsaturated (gray), and would apply to a lot of bicolor themes for dekorator too. I'm not sure if hue-shifting or "plain hue-setting for whole image" can be applied directly in dekorator, I'm asking motyR
