Description:

Skulpture is a GUI style addon for KDE programs. It features a classical three dimensional artwork with shadows and smooth gradients to enhance the visual experience.

Skulpture has been designed to be light and easy on eyes; many distracting borders or graphical elements have been removed or replaced by simpler artwork. See NOTES and README for additional information.

Skulpture is released as source code under the GNU GPL version 3 license; see INSTALL for installation instructions and COPYING for additional information.

Gentoo build kindly provided by Franz Fellner, Thanks! For binary packages, please check with your distribution.

If you do not want to compile it yourself on your system, you have to wait until someone provides updated Kubuntu packages.

Here is issue with description why kde skulpture style was deleted from debian: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=671898

Well, Debian packages are still at 0.2.0, but Skulpture had a 0.2.4 release a few years ago already (and it still builds with today's KDE).

If you cannot find someone willing to maintain the Debian package, why not start looking how you could do it? You are born to learn.

On Kubuntu (Ubuntu) 13.10 Skulpture package have 2.4 version, but still I can't install it because it conflicting with kde-window-manager :(
I will try to create my own deb package, but seems I must change package name for remove conflict.

Hmm, kde-style-skulpture is removed from Debian (so and from Ubuntu, Kubuntu too) as "unmaintained" at 10 May 2012:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/k/kde-style-skulpture/news/20120510T181231Z.html

Why this is happens and who can give back it into repository?

Yes, seems that this is issue in packaging, not in skuplture theme, force installing without looking dependencies solve the problem.

I create the issue about dependency problems in Kubuntu 13.10 and Skulpture theme on KDE 4.11 - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-style-skulpture/+bug/1197261 - please vote all who affected too.

Seems that the problem with kde-window-manager package in KDE 4.11:
$ aptitude show kde-window-manager
Package: kde-window-manager
Breaks: kde-style-skulpture

Maybe there are some incomportables or bugs with new kde, or only packaging issue?

hi, i like some ideas that make parts of the theme really gorgeous (if you choose a non-win95 color scheme), but other parts are imho lacking.

i’d like to hear your opinion on those:

1. progress bars from the center are unfortunate. if the missing parts are on both sides, i never can seem to get at a glance how much the value is. i’d like a “progress bar from the left” option

2. The checkbox-× doesn’t correspond to the close button and the clear-textfield button, it fades rather than being pointed. i’d like it unified

3. the new KDE 4.10 application menu window button is missing

4. i’d like to hide the groove for the scrollbar handle, or use a groove as wide as the handle itself, not a smaller one.

5. combobox arrow handle width is dependent on scrollbar width: i like a narrow scollbar, but the combobox arrows will stick out if i make the scrollbar too small

6. i’d like to have an option to drag by every window part, not only the title bar, (and consequently an option to not color the title bar differently than the rest of the window)

7. if the border width is et to 0, there’s no way to resize the window without using the keyboard. i’d like to be able to specify the width of an invisible resize handle extending beyond the border (i.e. 2 pixels around the physical border of the window)

8. i don’t like the tooltips at all. that hard black border looks ugly and the yellow in the color schemes comes straight from the 90ies :)

all in all i really like it, but a bit more customizability in those areas would make it truly gorgeous.

the things i especially like is the drawing of the tree view (black circles for expandable tree items) and the subtle border around selected and hovered list/tree items, as well as the insert-caret when hovering a textbox

My opinion is that a day has too few hours, that's why I never found the time to work on Skulpture again. Patches that add the new KDE features (shadows, dragging, tabbing, menu button) are welcome.

... now if someone could only recommend a GTK2+GTK3 theme that goes well together with this one? I still have some GTK apps left that, so far, seem to not look very nice with Skulpture, and gtk-qt-engine doesn't work for GTK3 either. :( What do you use for that?

Cheers and thanks,
Kristian

Hi, this style is great looking but I'm wonder if you are planing to add features like dragging windows by clicking on empty spaces (like in oxygen and bespin).

Also a port to GTK2 would be much appreciated!

Anyway: I want to say "thank you". KDE needs this style since it's not like oxygen or bespin.

The automatic filter list for AdBlocK in Konqueror using KDE 4.5.0 remains empty with Skulpture. When using the Oxygen theme it works fine. Could this be a bug in Skulpture?

Report

C

skulptor

It is a bug in the implementation of the filter model in Konqueror. It fills in the model data without informing the view of the changed rowCount.

When using Skulpture the rowCount is queried before the model gets filled, because of the headerDataChanged() call that I need to force Qt to update the header size for the changed header font.

Qt caches the rowCount value, and when the model does not indicate a rowCount change, the list simply stays empty.

Thanks for the report, will be fixed in KDE 4.5.2.

I like the look when it is sharp. But only thing what I dislike is the progress bars look. Could there be a option to have a typical kind progressbar, from left to right? It is easier to read for some peope, even that the style is otherwise most fit for them.

The option is in the source code. In file src/skulpture.cpp, line 6548, change "true" to "false".
