Description:

Oxygen-Gtk is a port of the default KDE widget theme (Oxygen), to gtk.

Its primary goal is to ensure visual consistency between gtk and qt-based applications running under kde. A secondary objective is to also have a stand-alone nice looking gtk theme that would behave well on other Desktop Environments.

Unlike other attempts made to port the kde oxygen theme to gtk, this attempt does not depend on Qt (via some Qt to Gtk conversion engine), nor does render the widget appearance via hard coded pixmaps, which otherwise breaks everytime some setting is changed in kde.

Hosting:
- tarballs are hosted on kde ftp servers
- git repository is hosted at https://projects.kde.org

Download
- First link point to a tarball of the official 1.0 release

Release:
We plan to follow the same release schedule as KDE:
- one minor bug-fixing release every month;
- one major feature release every six month.

Bugs:

See the README file in the top-level directory, for a list of possible issues with the style.

Bugs and feature requests can be sent to KDE bug tracking system (https://bugs.kde.org/). You would need to select Product=Oxygen, and Component=gtk-engine

Thanks, it worked well, the shadows come back.
But libreoffice didnt, so I installed: 'libreoffice-gnome' and It worked.

yes. I guess you're original libreoffice uses the "Qt" interface, which is even more broken than the gtk one. (and uses Oxyge-Qt and not oxygen-gtk).

libreoffice-gnome on the other hand uses the gtk interface, and therefore oxygen-gtk which should be less broken and (indeed) have the shadow back. It is the recommanded usage of libre-office (until libreoffice get rewritten to use Qt / or gtk, as a native toolkit, in place of the two ugly and incomplete wrappers it is using now)

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad I could help.

I've noticed this change too. Why cant kwin use its old shadows for cases like these? Now every non-oxygen style does not have shadows for menus :-(

Report

Well. Old kwin shadows is gone for good (it was buggy, non-optimized and unmaintained).

We could/should add fallback shadows to kwin in case it is not provided by the widget style, but due to lack of manpower it is unfortunately low priority. I guess a bug report or wish send to KWin @ bugs.kde.org can't hurt, though :)

I have some issues, like GUI objects starts flickering then degrading until system restarts by itself. I'm on Debian.

So I want to temporarily remove this theme to see if this issue will come again, as this is third time it happened in a middle of working environment (couple of programs opened with documents data lost)

Thanks

I found that I can uninstall from Synaptic Manager

I will report if I experience above issue again, in case it's not related to this theme

Excellent work!
Thanks for making it

One thing I miss is window border. Controls are changed and everything is slick, but for window border I have to choose one of my available themes, and there is no one like in screenshot (KDE).

Compilation went fine, with latest git code
I'm on Debian 6.0.2

Maybe that's the way it should be, but can't tell from 'documentation' provided

Thanks and cheers

Of course, window manager is supposed to be themed separately. It's not a gtk widget.
You can install kwin and use oxygen style with it.
Or, try this hack for xfwm4: http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php?content=123744 .
For other WMs oxygen isn't available yet.

Hi,
I'm using oxygen-gtk 1.1.0.
I'm not sure who is responsible for this, but I am unable to move slider in GTK applications in fluxbox, such as lxappearance and hamster-time-tracker.

Report

l0ll0lll

I guess this might be the same problem for both sliders and notebooks. What happens when you drag them? Does the window move in any case?

Report

C

HugoPereira

also, what's the gtk version you are using ?

Report

prok

I'm using GTK+-2.24.5-r1 from Gentoo.

For notebook: when I have my mouse on deselected tab, it hightlights the border in blue, but clicking does not switch to this tab.
For hscale: I can click on the round button on slider, which is the drawn as clicked (dark circle inside), but is not moved when I move the mouse.

... weird. Never heard of such an issue.
Could you try downgrade to oxygen-gtk-1.0.5 and see whether the problem persists or disappear ? its easy to ensure that oxygen-gtk 1.0.x is used: the sliders are rendered differently.

If the problem does disappear, then you'd want to use git bisect to try identify the guilty commit.

You can contact me on IRC (#oxygen, ask for hugo), if you need help with git bisect.

Sorry for the trouble,

Hugo

I think the problem runs deeper than that. With oxygen-gtk I'm also unable to switch tabs in deluge (I think, the widget is called GtkNotebook). In oxygen-molecule, however, the tabs work fine, but it also has the slider problem.
I've talked to folks at fluxbox, and they also had no idea about the issue.

I'll try to downgrade and see what happens.
Is there a tool which would allow me to listen to the issued events for listeners? What would be the proper way to debug this?

hello... i've been notice that gimp 2.7 also work without removing this line's... just have to run gimp fist with some other gtk theme like "new wave" or something and then switch to oxygen-gtk and then every time gimp run's without problems... just first time have to be with other theme... I can't figure out how it works :D

Report

I've been unable to test gimp 2.7 yet (which I heard have had a major re-design).

Concerning the first crash, and the solution, I guess I'll remove the guilty gtkrc lines permanently. (this was gimp's design choice to use smaller fonts in tool panels, and the rc code was provided by them and intended to fix that. Probably is deprecated now ...)

For the second issue: seems to me that new widgets have been introduced. The "orange" I believe is the same as for "progress bars", which is actually what's intended here. (in kde land, krita has similar custom "editable progressbar" widgets).

Not much we can do about it ...

Not our fault.
Libreoffice comes with its own versions of libraries against which it links (notably libstdc++, if I remember correctly), that oxygen-gtk also needs.
However, these shiped version are incompatible with the ones against which the style was compiled, and therefore the style cannot load.

You should file a bug to libre-office.

(Note: this issue has already been raised in previous comments, and a solution might have been provided, if I remember right).
