I know this is kind of unrelated, but this seemed as good of a place to ask as any. I used to know what setting to change to change the background color when you log in, but i've since forgotten it, could someone point me in the right direction for doing that?

i was preparing to do a 2.14 splash but the gnome-devs told me one of the objectives for 2.14 would be to have no splash screen, so i guess theres no more need for splash screens.
well, you can try making a .splash directory in your home folder,and drag all the splashes you like in it.
Then, in Applications->System->Gconf Config Editor, go to apps->gnome-sesion->options
click on splash image, the field is open for editing. Type in /home/*username*/.splash/*splash_picture's_name.png*

type gdmsetup in console then go to the GTK + Greeter tab. in the bottom right corner there is a button ...press it ;P
