Sorry for late reply, had a major drama with my laptop...
I use windows, pidgin portable.
Here you need to go in the install folder, App\Pidgin\pixmaps\pidgin\tray
I believe it works very similarly in Linux, infact the pixmaps folder is one of those ...ehm... silly... things that are not stored under the user profile's path, as far as I know...
Be careful to make a copy, because during updates it's likely to get lost (altough it shouldn't, developers says, I myself have experienced that it's not so true!)

sorry, my english gets worse when I am tired!
What I meant is that it's best if you do make a backup copy of this archive so in case it gets lost during updates you can recover it.
