Description:

Change the way you look at your desktop. Get carefully crafted, bright and clean icon-theme for Gnome Desktop.
Shadow is a flat icon-theme for gnome 3.10+. The icons have a colourful circular base with long shadow.

Selected in top 10 icons by itsubuntu and top 5 icons by linuxdescomplicado

Releasing version 8.1 support for cinnamon de added. Run `./changecolor.py` and choosed your de.
New in 8.3 ~30 new/modified icons

Installation

mkdir -p ~/.icons/shadow
Download the archived file
extract the archived file using
```
tar -Jxvf shadow-xx.tar.xz
```
in ~/.icons/shadow
Optionally, but strongly recomended, run
```
./changecolor.py
```

Activate the theme using tweak-tool or from command line:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme "shadow"

If you like this icon, don't forget to check my new icon theme dual

Missing icon request: Please try this script which is a simple python script to get missing icons from your installation.
The script searches for apps in /usr/share/applications directory and if any icon name is missing from the `Shadow`, it puts the corresponding file from /usr/share/icons in /tmp/missingicons dir.

Kindly let me know if this is helpful.

Instruction for Mate and elementary Desktop Environment
The changecolor.py is completely re-written. You will have option to choose your de (gnome/mate/pantheon/unity) and colour independent of each other.
Kindly let me know if you face any problem in running `changecolor.py` (preferably in github)

Hi,
Icons are ready, but I have no idea how they are named. Can you give me the icon names? They will possibly be in /usr/share/applications/<app>.desktop
or in
/usr/local/share/applications/<app>.desktop.
You can send me the output of `grep Icon= <app>.desktop` where <app> is the proper file

Haha, sure!
TeamSpeak doesn't come with a Desktop file, so it will be fine if you just call it "teamspeak" and i will adjust my selfmade .desktop file. The rest is:
Shutter: "Icon=shutter"
PopcornTime: "Icon=popcorntime.png"
Ardour has been there allready, but the desktop file was looking for "ardour4" (fixed it in .desktop file. :) )

Hi!
When Firefox is running, instead of the Firefox logo for the running app I get some green icon. Uses to confuse me all the time... Is that normal? :)

This is not normal....thats for sure.
are you using some nightly built of firefox?
Or, can you tell me the output of

1. uname -r
2. grep Icon /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop

in terminal?

Hi,
I have no clue why this is behaving like this.
Is the firefox icon shown properly in the applications/faviurite? Or is it missing from everywhere? Can you send a screenshot?

I am not sure but for me, it looks like you set the icons for backup/bin etc manually sometime past.
Is this true? Otherwise I don't see any reason of getting this. Please let me know if you did changed them manually...else we need to dig them up

Tried it on another install. Same issue for me. The only blue folders are the ones you see in the screenshot.

All other folders is in the kaki/brownish color. Not only bin, tmp, and backup. But all other folders and subfolders...

Could it be because I don't use GNOME or any other DE. I use openbox...

Hi,I did that. Didn't solve it.
But you set me on the right path. I just copied the stock-folder.svg and renamed the copy to "inode-directory.svg", and as you see in the screenshot, it worked. Link here:

Very happy with it, so now it only remains for me to make the systray in the upper right corner match your theme. It's a lovely theme indeed :)

But I see that it inherits Adwaita, and for me that results in light-brown/kaki folders in the file-manager, except the default user-folders which looks bluish as I expected. How can I get the same color, or a matching color on all other folders?
