Description: This Gnome Shell extension tries to transform the Application Menu to a window list. Tested in Fedora 16 and GNOME Shell 3.2.1
INSTALLATION:
- Uncompress windowlist-02.tar.gz - Copy both directories to /home/yourname/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ - Restart the shell: ALT + F2, type "r" and press ENTER. - Enable both extensions with gnome-tweak-tool.Last changelog:
I can't get it to display like yours. On my system it looks like an old school task bar: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14569277/Screenshot%20at%202011-12-08%2017%3A28%3A13.png
Any ideas why its doing this?
I'm running F16 with gnome 3.2.1.
Thanks for making this great extension!
I have tweaked this a bit on my machine.
Now each item takes up max 150 px in width, and gave it bit more space in the clock area, to allow the full text.
(My clock text was only partially visible)
I have not made a git fork yet, but if anyone wants these changes, I will be happy to do it.
In talika and dockbarx only an icon is shown in the panel. It would be nice from a stand point of space on the bottom panel. Can you come up with an extension that just does that? I tried to tweak the windowlist but never could get it to do just that.
Thanks.

I was just curious if you might have a list of what this extension is incompatible with? I ask because it resembles the mint window list from the MGSE extensions with just rounded corners/simple white boarder, and looks nothing like in the images like the normal application button does, perhaps because I previously had that extension installed, or perhaps I should remove all extensions and try to start over? this is on gnome 3.2 suse 12.1 if that helps.
I would also love to know how to get this to work in the latest gnome-shell.
I tried adding it to the /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions folder, but it doesn't show up in "Advanced Settings".
Many thanks.

Is this compatible with the gnome global menu extension?
No, but is interesting for the TODO.

I uploaded a new version.
How to install it? N00b question, sorry! :(
I put the installation steps.
Great extension :-). Is there a particular reason to prefer app name over window title? (I have a patch to display window title instead).
Plese, send me your patched extension for try it to: kurtrottmann gmail com
I made a github fork so collaboration would be easier: https://github.com/siefkenj/gnome-shell-windowlist
