Description:

Squareiance is a modern theme for Gnome inspired by Ambiance. It only supports Unity. The theme is compatible with GTK 3.4 and uses the Unico engine., it also includes a GTK 2.0 theme using Murrine engine.

Basically this theme is Ubuntu Ambiance with some tweaks to make it mor consistent and my vision of how it should be

This theme is licensed under GNU General Public License version 3.

Theme Installation

Extract the Squareiance.zip files to the themes directory:

"~/.themes/" or "/usr/share/themes"

Use gnome-tweak-tool a.k.a Advanced Settings to select the GTK and metacity themes.

or

gconftool-2 -s --type string /apps/metacity/general/theme "Squareiance"

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme "Squareiance"

Main 'fixes' :
* Toolbar gradients make a lot more sense
* Tabs now have a proper gradient like they should have
* Nautillus with dark sidebar
* Metacity theme with a more modern look

To start it's not the same theme, has you can closely see this theme has dark sidebar on nautilus, second of all it's not hard to pick up Ambiance original theme and make it square (like you and me did), thirdly you're not the first person to make this and lastly I am giving credits to the original owners of the theme if you take a closer look there's a a line that says "<copyright>Based on Canonical Ltd. Ambiance</copyright>".
