Ambiance Cold
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
This theme requires the git version of Murrine to work.
PACKAGE ARCHIVE:
If you're using Ubuntu/Debian you can easily install this theme by installing the light-themes-ripps package from my Extra Themes PPA. It will install my Cold, Colder, and Mint versions Ambiance.
https://launchpad.net/~ripps818/+archive/themes
NAMEBAR:
Namebar themes are also provided. One for each version of the theme. The only difference between the two is that Ambiance Colder's close button has a slightly brighter blue.
To install, just place the whole compressed package into $HOME/.namebar/themes.
REPOSITORIES:
If you wish to keep up to date with any changes I make to this theme, please checkout my Launchpad bzr branch:
https://code.launchpad.net/~ripps818/+junk/ambiance-cold
BUTTON LAYOUT:
Thankfully, Ubuntu Lucid has depreciated the rearranging of the button layout in metacity. It now, instead, relies on a property in the theme's index.theme. Now, all you have to do is change the the ButtonLayout property.
ALTERNATE COLORS:
A few people felt that this theme was too blue for it's own good, so I altered the theme to be more desaturated and less blue. This version has the metacity close button slightly desaturated so that the button doesn't stand out as much as it used to.
If you liked the previous bluer version, don't worry, I just renamed that version to Ambiance Colder. I'll be keeping both versions up to date as Ubuntu updates Ambiance.
As per a request, I made a green version called Ambiance Mint. I'll merge any base layout changes I make with the other Ambiance themes with it, but I'm probably not going to make a chrome/namebar theme for it unless somebody explicitly asks me to.
OTHER:
If you're looking for a nice monochrome icon theme, I recommend using LaGaDesk-BlackWhite-III:

If you vote down this theme, please explain why so I can try to fix it.

I've been looking for hours to find a theme like this, and I've finally found it; A Lucid Lynx Ambiance theme with Blue buttons. Thanks Very much for making this. ^_^ Works very nicely on an install of Xubuntu 12.04 with Compiz.
synaptic package manager is not themed properly...May be root level theming is not proper. Otherwise good. I prefer a less blue in progress bars (in the cold version)
How about making a PPA .deb package for this , so that it can be installed (and updated) with Synaptic/aptitude/apt-get
That's a good idea, and I've considered it, but I haven't taken the time to set it up. Maybe soon.
Okay, I now added a Lucid package for all my Ambiance themes. It's in my Extra Themes PPA (link in above description).
And very elegant wallpaper. Can you post link to it?
It's the Fedora Animated wallpapers: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Corrected+Background+Fedora+Animated?content=87682
Man, I love your theme. Only one sugestion: the scroll bars and some controls are very thick. That takes the whole attention in the window drawing. It would be intresnting if you could make a "thin" vesion too, and an openbox theme for those who don't use gnome (like me), but I know that is too much, jajaja. My english sucks, sorry. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Okay, the version in my launchpad bzr branch now has extra folder added that enables thinner scrollbars. Just change the this line the gtkrc: Quote:include "scrollbars/scrollbar.rc"
to
Quote:include "scrollbars.thin/scrollbar.rc"
I put together a quick Openbox theme which looks similar to this one. Can't say whether it's put together well, but if you find any problems, just let me know and I'll try to fix them. ;) http://box-look.org/content/show.php?content=121321
THANKS!
