Description:
A sandy looking 2D-ish Theme for bright LCDs. It uses the Smooth Engine and follows the Gnome HIG color recommendations.

I started this theme from scratch and attempted to document the gtkrc XML file as good as possible, since the major obstacle to creating this theme was a lack of good documentation. In the meantime i found the Phlat Themes which are rather well documented and i tried to incorporate as much of this documentation as possible.

A big THANK YOU to the creators of the different themes that helped and inspired me.
Last changelog:

Current screenshot: The 1st screenshot shows Mellow in conjunction with the Mist Metacity theme and the Kreski Lines icons. The 2nd screenshot is a showcase with ThemePreview2. The 3rd screenshot showcases the theme in another previewer.

Version 0.4
* "inhertiance" issue resolved. I declared some widget_classes wrongly. Amazing how much this makes GTK2 burp.

Version 0.3
* harder edges around buttons and scrollbars remove the small 1 pixel gap between items.
* HELP NEEDED! It seems that Mellow somehow hogs GTK2. Even after switching between several different engines and rebooting, Gnome still shows some widgets in Mellow definition. STRANGE! I don't know what went wrong. Any help is appreciated.

Version 0.2

* Improved the scrollbar issue, but still not fixed, hints appreciated.
* Reduced to one color scheme, inspired by Grip.
* Included more documentation taken from PHlat Themes.

Version 0.1

* 4 basic color schemes
* Issues with scrollbars
* Screenies used Atlantis Metacity theme and lila-blue icons

I appreciate any comment, thanks.

SystemG is a good choice with Mellow. I'm glad you are happy with it and i intend to update it soon to remedy the scrollbar issue. In the meanwhile take a look at my new theme "Jet". ;-)

I've been using Mellow for a few days and I loved it from the moment I laid my eyes on it. However, after I combined it with the SystemG (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=19800) Metacity theme I knew I would be using Mellow for a long time to come. I'm a die-hard fan of the few themes I choose to install on my machine and I encourage Mellow newcomers to give a go with SystemG and I'm sure they'll like the combination.

I'd say very nice!

Thank you!

Your GTK2 theme is really good. I'm using it now substituting my old favorite SmoothGNOME which noone else could replace. Thank you for the work that you've done on it. I noticed that the archive that is provided contains both gtkrc and gtkrc~. I suspect the second file is just a backup of the first one, so could you please remove it from the distribution.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it! Can you give me feedback about the "scrollbar issue"? Here's description: on vertical scrollbars the handle stays 2 pixel away from the top stepper, while it only stays 1 pixel away from the bottom stepper - which is the intended behaviour. This is also true with horizontal scrollbars, where the left stepper behaves oddly. Can you confirm this behaviour? And at your request, i removed the backup file, so now the download is even smaller ;-)

Yes, I've got the scrollbar issue that you describe. I haven't noticed it myself because I'm using my display at a geometry of 1400x1050 I suppose. Anyway, I see it now.

You can find them here: http://lila-theme.uni.cc/files/colors/ Apparently there are more color schemes available now, including green and red.

omg thank you its gorgeous! only prob with bz2 files was the files were nested 2 deep so i had to move the subfolders into my themes and icons directory - but who cares! these rock!!

Thanks for the nice words. At your request I provide three more color schemes and consider a second blue one. Obviously the Lila-Blue iconset is not the perfect fit for these new color schemes. All work nicely with the stock Gnome icons though.

I love flat themes and this one is GREAT. The only suggestion I would make is have the blue a little less contrasting. Or perhaps another color all together.
