While some find this funny, I don't think it is a good thing to have distributed on an offical KDE website! It is a clear case of copyright violation. We don't want the great Bill Waterson to be angry at us! Open Source (GPL, etc) are built on the strength of copyright. We take GPL violations very seriously, but guess what, they are really Copyright violations! So let us not support copyright violations of any kind!!!!!!!
The only people who have made money off Calvin and Hobbes "memorabilia" are, in Bill Watterson's exact words: thieves and robbers. Look at how Calvin is portrayed above. That does NOT capture the spirit of the character. In fact, it is a blatant misinterpretation of the character. Watterson did not license C&H merchandise for exactly this reason. Bumper stickers and coffee mugs would oversimplify and bastardize his art.
And now, whoever created this wallpaper is only contributing to the problem. If you VALUED Calvin & Hobbes, or had the slightest respect for its creator, you would NOT submit a wallpaper like this.
