Are you talking about the english dubbed version or the original japanese version? In the japanese version they always call him a "Dempire". However, there is no japanese equivilant for "Dempire" so that bastardized the english into their own syllables, which ends up sounding like "Dumpeal". In the english dubbed version, the translators were obvious inadequate with japanese and merely gave the japanese bastardized word, sounding like "dumpeal". If one was to translate syllable by syllable to japanese of "Dempire" it would end up sounding like "Deh-Meh-Pih-Reh". So as what happens so often with english words being used in japanese, they changed the syllables to fit into their own language.
I know, but I've used a phrase of the english dubbed version of vhd. That's all:)
P.S.: that dubbing isn't that bad... you have to listen how anime ova's are dubbed in Italy, my home country.

D is not a "Dumpeal" he is a Dempire, as in Demi-Vampire. Just a slight correction there.
I know that he's a damphyr, but in the oav they simply call him dumpeal, so that's why I wrote dumpeal:)
