Description: Awful joke. It seemed funny before making it though. Made in Xara LX, because Inkscape doesn't have drop shadows or feathering. Don't think I hate Inkscape though.
If you want it for other screen sizes, just center it with a black background.
Eventhough i don't understand the joke i like a lot how you paint earth. Mayby you can keep earth and add a penguing hugging it and with a title like "linux hugs earth" or of cource just the earth but it would be a little boring... anywho nice job keep up.
It's supposed to be the world replying to the "Hello, world!". The more I think about it, the more stupid it sounds. My two friends like it, so I put it up here anyway. They're idiots though. This wallpaper is sad anyway.

Actually perhaps your friends are smart. It is common for tutorials on web development or programming languages first example to be the writting of "Hello World!". (Thats why there is code in the background). So thats the joke the world is finally responding. Its not that funny but it might be desktop worthy.
