It was made in the summer of 2001 when I had 15" screen, so I didn't need anything scaled to more than 1024x768.

It is pitty. But i was very impressed of possibilities of terragen and i just wanted to know if a linux version exist and the time needed to render such a picture ?
As far as I know, there is no linux version of terragen. However you may try to run it with wine.
The time for rendering a 1024x768 picture is between 40 min and 1 hour on Celeron 450 MHz. (I had a machine like that when I rendered such images)

Amazing, but what a pitty to scall such a picture to 1024x768 !!! Would be nice in 1600x1200...
