Well this seems to be a fairly popular style at the moment... My second publicly released GDM theme. the background was canabalied from the Swirl SVG background by volvoguy, on art.ubuntu.com, modified in inkskape with a nice gradient from the gimp, and is also released as gpl. I'm still doing alot of exploring on the svg front, so this will remain a png for now.
