Description: This gtk+ theme is based on the eGTK theme.
I tried to make the theme a little slimmer (smaller icons, smaller widgets, ...)
This is just another small step on my way to create an OSX like desktop. Though I have to admit that my Mac OS X 10.6 looks still much better ;-)
Future plans: * Get rid of some graphical glitches (comboboxes) * Add better firefox support * Update icon set * Improve visual style of tabs (eg. nicer close button) * Customized iconset
Problems: 1) Nautilus is partly transparent: either edit the gtkrc in the theme folder and file and set "rgba" to "FALSE" or use gconf-editor to navigate to "apps > nautilus > preferences" and enable / disable the "rgba_colormap" key.Last changelog:

In the long term I plan to completely rewrite the theme to separate the "shrink it" part from the osx lookalike part. Basically the idea is to have all the "shrink code" in a separate theme, that can be included in any theme file and enable the slimmer interface.
Additionally I want to perfect the overall look of the theme, eg nautilus, evolution, firefox. Currently I'm relatively satisfied with the theme, but there are many graphical glitches I want to get rid of.
To accomplish all this, I think I have to rebuild the theming part from scratch. This perhaps will take a few months or so, because currently I simply don't have enough time.
If your are willing to help continue this project, best will be to simply dig into the gtkrc code and look how thinks work. You will see that there are plenty of "hacks", eg for all the 4 different types of comboboxes which all look and work a little bit different. Perhaps you can identify dead code, that doesn't do anything or stuff like this.
Regarding distribution, you could research on how to make deb files or even provide a PPA or stuff like this, as the current method of supplying a tar.gz is not the best thing.
Furthermore, if you have any ideas for improving the look of a certain app just drop me a mail.

I installed the elementary-nautilus ppa but it seems that the rgba_colormap key is not supported. I created a bool and set it to false - no effect. Somewhere I read that I have to use use the current sources and compile it. Did that as explained in http://www.webupd8.org/2010/01/nautilus-elementary-simplified-nautilus.html, but nautilus crashes on startup with this error message: ... nautilus_window_sync_clutter_toggle: assertion failed:; (GTK_IS_ACTION (action))
Provide the deb/ppa you're using and I'll try to fix the theme. Btw, I used the am_monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa - maybe that's the wrong one?
@pablomoreno: now nautilus-elementary is working here but I don't see the problem as you described it!

The metacity border has the color #e5e5e5, the window background directly below the window border has exactly the same color. Even if I disable gnome-globalmenu to display the menubar inside the window, there is no problem with the colors.
Btw, the toolbar/menubar uses a very soft gradient - maybe that's the problem?
I am a big fan of your theme, I like a lot especially scroolbar, the size chosen for the buttons and the top panel of gnome that can be made completely transparent.
I found a flaw, however: the color of the metacity theme is lighter than the color of the rest of the theme. You can correct this problem?

So, I looked into this and I'm sorry but I don't think that I can fix this.
The problem is, that the guys who compiled this nautilus elementary did change something in the code that makes the toolbar and the sidebar header transparent (look at the red marked spots on this screenshot: http://de.tinypic.com/r/n3kakp/6).
But perhaps there is a way to compile it yourself and remove the transparency.
I love this theme, but I'm using linux mint and it makes all the mint menu icons 16x16, and I have customized them to different values per section. Could u tell me what part of the gtkrc file do I have to change or eliminate to let the mint menu icons be the size the app says? Please.
Try and use linux mint, it is a very interesting distro. ;) bye!
At the beginning of the gtkrc file there is a line starting with "gtk-icon-sizes =". Simply remove the entire line and all icons should be using your custom settings.
Oh, I see. The font and its size is fixed (by intention). It only possible to change it by editing the .gtkrc file in within the theme folder.
It might be possible (for me) to create a theme that completely applies the Gnome font settings. I'll look into this and if possible update the theme.
It's fine that it works under other distros as Ubuntu. But as I only tested it in Ubuntu, I can't state that it's working everywhere.
Btw, you need Lucida Grande to make it work correctly.

In red circles, this font cannot be changed (size or font). I'd like to use another font and another size, smaller, at 7 or 8 max, but I cannot. And, the problem is the same with every distro witch uses Gnome.
I know that Ubuntu != Gnome!
But I use Ubuntu, because it's the most widespread distributed (afaik) --> more support in forums etc.
Furthermore, I think that Debian has only (very) old packages because of security and stability reasons - correct me if I'm wrong here.

Btw, can't you should be able to use the theme in Debian as well. If not, report back why and I will try to fix the theme.

u can disable the rgba with the gconf-editor apps/nautilus/preferences/rgba_colormap then restart nautilus (nautilus -q)
