Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work): Add the source-code for this project on opencode.net
A beautiful taskbar for kicker.
features:
o flat and transparent (if kicker is transparent)
o animated thumbnail views (animation equations correspond to kpager2)
You probably need to restart kicker after adding the taskbar.
based on taskbar of kde 3.2
compilation:
FIX the file modification times first:
find . -print -exec touch {} ;
Then
(make -f Makefile.cvs)
./configure
make
su
make install
If it doesn't work, you probably need to remove the autom4te directory. Moreover, using mtaskbar.kdevelop will help in any case.
Have fun!

Sorry if that subject line sounds demanding, I should say this is a really good bit of work and hopefully it'll appear in future release of KDE.
Would it be possible to have the screen shots actually being the items in the taskbar, similar to in OS X?

Somehow the make process explicitly invokes aclocal-1.7:
cd . && /bin/sh /opt/mtaskbar-0.6/mtaskbar/admin/missing --run aclocal-1.7
/opt/mtaskbar-0.6/mtaskbar/admin/missing: line 46: aclocal-1.7: command not found
WARNING: `aclocal-1.7' is missing on your system. You should only need it if
you modified `acinclude.m4' or `configure.in'. You might want
to install the `Automake' and `Perl' packages. Grab them from
any GNU archive site.

I use the taskbar since quite
some time now without major
problems. One thing that would
be great though: There should
be a configurable list of apps
TaskbarV2 does not take
a screenshot of. Because when
I run a video in KPlayer
the video stutters every 15
seconds or so. I suspect this
is because TaskbarV2 is taking
its screenshots.

Thank you very much for this !
You really need to put that in standart KDE. Tell me what i can do to help you doing this.
As for the install, it won't compil on my mdk 10.1 box, but the precompiled binairies worked fine.
No problem with reduced images from mplayer.
Question : How can i change the color of the letters in the taskbar ???

is it some setting on my side?

Can you do something for customising the text colour maybe? Also maybe have a semi-transparent mouseover instead of opaque? :D

I also installed the previous version on my workstation at work, with a suse rpm (gentoo at home), and it also had a 'configure' menu, which lacks at home.
