Well i've got this thing working. Maybe I just don't know what I'm doing but I would like for this to start up when I start the computer. As it stands now I'm starting it with a desktop shortcut. I really like this though it's a great addition to KDE. Like I said i just wish i could figure out how to make it auto start when I boot the computer.

This improvement is wonderful! But I would like to backup my configuration, all my program in the bar, to replay it on my laptop. Do you know how can I do this?

I have tried a lot of docks and the ones I like best are ksmoothdock and this one. Only problem I have with kooldock is that it is above all of my windows. How can I make it that when my window goes over it the dock isnt on top of it? Then with ksmoothdock not all of my open programs are in its taskbar.

First off, this looks really cool! Second, I'm new to Gentoo and I need a hand. I have downloaded the gentoo ebuild from your site, but when I run the command 'ebuild kooldock-0.3.ebuild' I receive the error "expected two arguments" What are the two arguments?

I've tried every possible osx-like dockers: kxdocker, ksmoothdock, several karamaba ones, and KoolDock is the fastest, smoothest and more user-friendly. Nice!

Very nice app! runs smoothly(very) on Mandrake 10.1.

Feature Requests:

1) Detect if the kicker is on the bottom, if so, ask to move KoolDock to the top/rside/lside.

2) Easily move KoolDock using the menu.

Hi,
first of all congratulations, this really is a "Kool" Dock!!!!

I ran it with Mandrake 10.1 without any problems and it looked great!! However now I have installed SuSe Linux 9.2 because I tried to look if my WLan card would work with it. And now ....

I've found that there is no binary for KoolDock for SuSe 9.2, at least I can't download it.

The problem is further I don't know how to compile it on my own because I'm nearly a newbie.

Can anyone help me?

Big Thx in advance!!!

It's a damnly great dock! I tried to use superkarmba yesterday for a longlong time, I still failed. But this one is easy to install and edit! really good work, thank you very much.

Some suggestions and questions:

1. Is there any possible to add a clock on it?
2. How to rearrange the position of the application on the dock?
3. How to make it run all the time when kde starts? (I use gdm to login)
4. Try to add more effects please, for example, bounce. :P

Thank you again!

2. How to rearrange the position of the application on the dock?

Open ~/.kde/share/apps/kooldock/menu, and manually change the names of the .desktop files there. They appear on the dock in alphabetical order. Restart the dock, and it'll be in order.

To rearrange the order go to Launcher Preferences and right click over an icon an select "swap with".
This is only available in the latest version (0.3) or the CVS.

I only have an answer for question no. 3.:

Here comes the way I do that!

Go to folder ~/.kde/Autostart/ and put there a bash script, which starts kooldock. The bash script could look like this (and should be executable):
--------
#!/bin/bash

#start KoolDock
kooldock &

#start other programs
...
--------
After that, kooldock is starting every time you start kde.

Have fun amigo!

Very nice bar, but I have some questions:
1. How do I remove the old KDE-bar?
2. How can I show a transparent time field and a systray-area beside the koolbar (do you know programs that offer this functionality)?
3. How do I prevent windows from being displayed under the koolbar when maximized (koolbar does not seem to reserve a certain area of the desktop (e.g. bottom) of the desktop)?

Greetings,

StieveG
