This is not my idea. I have seen this function in many download managers.
I am thinking by adding this function to kget to make it more useable.
the idea is by giving a weblink and specifying the range, it allows user to download all the file within range...
see the screenshot if you have no idea what batch download is..
Sorry, if you don\\\'t understand my English

Example:
I am able to download from Midnight to 6AM for free. However, if I go past 6AM I have to pay more $, so generally most big downloads (like Movies, Kernel etc) cost $$$ because of numerous reasons like, net slowdown, backbone throttling etc.
Additionally, maybe allowing a 7 day schedule whereby you can make allowances for different ISP free download times and Net maintenance periods.
Also being able to select one or more sites for each selected download file would really be a Power Plus - Why? A quick download test can be initiated and KGet selects the best site because of speed or user-experience or reliability.
Anyhow, just my 2c. Being a part-time developer of s/w myself I understand the effort going into every program so I would really appreciate the developers time in adding these suggestions (if accepted of course).

I have started writing a program to do just that.
I post here to get feedback to what I've done so far, and before adding new content into kde-apps.
The program is named kgetbatch (this could change) and you can see some screenshots at http://users.otenet.gr/~geosp/kgetbatch/
Please send me any comments here or using the link in the page above

Just add kget to konqueror toolbar, click it and select "show all links". Then you get window open where is all files from page and you can categorize them to file type, address, name.. so on... then just normal file select (shift or ctrl) what you want and download them... Much easier and better way than that kind....
Sorry but negative vote from me.

As for the batch download idea, I say why not. The more the merrier. Its all about choice.

Some websites are not listed all the link in the same page, if you want to download load them all have to go through page by page which is painful.

Oh and pembo13, I like your quote
"As a boy I jumped through Windows. As a man I swim with penguins."
did you come up with that yourself? Its very good.

But on the topic of hand, batch downloading tools can be very much time savers. I only wish I had the skills necessary to patch kget myself.

I wasted too many years with Windows. Now I find myself playing catch up in the real world of computer software.
I have come to find my experiences with, and time spent on, Windows was a complete waste of time. It gave me no real skills.
I am a fast rebooter however :).
Still say it would be a good idea to add this feature to kget. Its just a good idea.
