Well we are working really hard on version 0.5 and we came up with some idea yesterday on moving your apps and organize them how ever you want.
Since the kbfx 0.5 is going to be customable we thougt on this idea with small animation.
Look at the Screenshot 2 the black one for some reason and feel free on what you think if this is good way to organize your apps.

We have opened our homepage WWW.KBFX.ORG
You can easily get help there about kbfx.
Please vote on our homepage for this
mockup as it will be probably V0.5.

Welcome to the KBFX.ORG
TO ALL PEOPLE!
Many of you complain that this theme is too much looking to windows and i agree.
I've made it like that because siraj (kbfx developer) did kbfx vista theme..
KBFX MENU will be themeable which means if you want flower and birds insted you can make it. This is just one of the themes and i will make much more of them when this kbfx menu is finished.
I have made a setting menu now also where you can look at it at screenshot 2 and screenshot 3.
We have also now registered domain name KBFX.ORG and we are for now developing our homepage..
I hope that you like the idea with this menu.. See YA!

how about making something new for the community let`s leave M$ out of this.
Ditto! Why does everyone want to emulate Vista? Vista SUCKS, people!!!!! Not to mention, this looks a lot harder to use, period, and this would be a MAJOR setback for KDE if it were to be implemented. Then again, maybe I'm too used to KDE the way it is now, which suits my needs just fine.
but what's with the windows's logo. I don't mind that it looks like a windows menu, but you shouldn't brand it with M$'s trademarked logo.
Hi, it looks really great but i don't konow how do install it?
It looks really nice. You did attend to detail so your mockup is pretty but looking at the functionality of the start menu, it is not intuitive at all. A start menu should be simple with as few clicks as possible. It should not be a control panel. There are levels of this. You have quick launch (one click) icons, then you have start meny items which can contain more launchers and save space (not to be burried under directories (2-4 clicks away), then you have a control panel with the variety of options. If anything, more work on control panels to encompass more and be more user friendly and intuitive is needed, not copying Windows XP start menus. Just because MS says it is, doesnt make it so...
I didn't make any windows menu button i just used someones kbfx button.. What i did was to design the menu. That's IT!
When you said that you designed the menu. Did you meant that you built the whole XPish menu and replaced the kbfx menu with it? or you meant that you made a kbfx button and applied it? And if the kbfx menu (the actual menu, not the button) can be fully changed. WHY EVERYBODY (especially siraj) WANTS IT TO LOOK LIKE F*CKING WINDOZE? WHO THE F*CK PAID YA OR MADE YA LIKE THAT POS LOOK? WHY IS THAT EVERYBODY DISLIKES THE SIMPLE AND CLUTTER-FREE MacOS 9 LIKE MENU? Ahh. I had to vent some of my M$ induced hatred and paranoia.
dude, nobody is forcing you to use this menu, the devs of kbfx are doing this out of their own time, I see you haven't contributed anything to kde-look (artwork) maybe you should do that instead of critizing other peoples work, comments like these are always demoralizing to any devs, either artwork or apps.
That looks much better thant that vista crap in recent kbfx. But I wouldn't want it as main menu - maybe as right click.
Looks nice, but reassembles too much of WindowsXP and WindowsVista menus. Plz, invent something new than just improve old.
I would so use that if it was a working one. It is probably the best looking menu ive seen. Keep up the good work!!! And who ever said it looks like windows is wrong. It is far cooler than the windows menu will ever be!!!
I think this great. I'd use it in a heart beat.
Is this web only a forum? I dont want to join yet another forum. I just want a place where I can get downloads, get news and learn more about kbfx plans, technology, people, code etc. Can you do this without forcing me to join your forum, please?
Our homepage is under development that's why we have put a forum there so long... You ccan already read news and get help there =)..
hey looking great! Menus look organized and very nice to look at. Can't wait until this mockup is implemented.
When do we get it! This is what linux needs to go more and more mainstream. The beauty and elegance and the freedom to customize. Will the layout be customizable? BTW it looks nothing like Windopes.
I don't think there should be anything else than apps in the menu, as it only makes the menu more cluttered. This does look nice, but that grouping could be used for different apps.
you can't afford a copy of Microsoft Windowws eh? You must have gotten a hand-me-down PC
Do you know what word theme and themeable is??? LEARN!
The menu itself doesnt even look like windows..
it's certainly a great idea :) i can't wait to be able to install it :)
IHMO that was a mistake of M$ to make such "featurized" menu in XP. Not because of the fact it's overloaded & unstructured (again, that's my point of view, i can't say i'm agerage user) but the fact it differs what users saw in 2000 & ME. I do not have such statistics but quite sure the majority of XP users are those migrated from earlier microsoft OS'es. The simplest way to make the user stuck is to change design into completely different. Even if it seems to be simpler to operate the user who got used the prev. variant would be confused much of the new layout. You've got the idea, that's what such changes result in
This is how KDE should look like, clean and simple. Great design.
Hello there... I really like it...so much... but i only have one problem... how do i install it? i am using bayanihan linux [based from redhatÜ] i am really facing problems in installing my downloaded kbfx... how do i install them? is ur kbfx available for download already? hehehe hope you could help me with this problem... tnx a lot
KBFX exists as you allready might know. But, however, this thing does not. From the title: "Kbfx - Menu Improvement (Mockup) Opinion". This means that this is a fake screenshot painted in gimp for example and is not installable( - yet). The creator here want's to hear comments of this concept used in this so called mockup. Hope this explains it all.... =) //Logge
