Description: Ride along with the armada of robotic space probes now exploring the Solar System with this simple SuperKaramba theme. It's a Linux implementation of the Riding With Robots Dashboard widget that has been popular on Mac OS X. It brings the latest downlink from RidingWithRobots.org right to your desktop, automatically checking for updates.
Double-clicking the widget will launch Firefox and bring you to the site for more information.
This 0.1 version has only been tested on SUSE Linux 10 in KDE. I'm very open to suggestions for improvement.
bdunford:
You know what would be good:
if you would make theme which shows moon and its position (ful moon, empty moon, etc...) so you could know what position moon stands.
The graphics could be as real moon and its position.
I hope you understood what I mean?
That would be great idea?
It would be nice if you could configure your browser (I never use firefox, I'm a Konqueror fan myself). Until then I'll just edit the code to make it use my preferred browser.
sconded on kde 3.5.4 using gentoo 2.6.17-r14 kernel.
Yet to see it update but have only just installed it so will w8 with bated breath...
It would be nice to be able to set the update frequency.
Thanks for using it. Let me know how it goes.
As far as frequency, I update the source image daily (or so). The theme checks for updates every few hours.
I'm hoping to add more functionality in future versions, such as the ability to browse through past images.

I do think it's a good idea. I think I've seen similar widgets for Mac and maybe for gDesklets on GNOME.
