Hey! This is lovely! Im wondering if its possible to make a doublle sized version? Also some of the covers look distorted when comparing them to the amarok images...
if you have your Amarok album art preview size set at 150x150 pixels they get less jiggy than if my karamba resizes them. double size might be a possibility. My original vinyl base art was actual size.
Amarok only lets you set the cover preview to 150px. You can cheat though. If you edit ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and change "Cover Preview Size" under "[General Options]" to 160 then there's no distortion. I agree that a double sized one would be awesome.
I'm gonna reply to myself here. You could definitely make it much larger. Amarok downloads large album covers, you just have to change the amarok default cover size like I suggested in the previous post to match the size you have for your karamba. It would give you more room for song info, etc. The only consequence is that the album covers in amarok's context section will also be that size - which people may or may not like.
Alright, sorry. I thought of a better solution. I don't know if you've tried this yet, but I think it might work. I guess you're using dcop to get the album cover URL. So it returns something like this: ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/cache/160@876140feb46d6e7865e08bad6eeb7773 I don't know python so I can't help with the syntax at all, but you could use a regular expression to remove the 160@ and change the top directory and you'd have a link to the full sized album cover. (i.e. ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/large/876140feb46d6e7865e08bad6eeb7773) I see two issues. Everyone has different sizes so you'd have to remove a generic size with the regular expression. The other issue is that if a song is encoded with an album tag cover, the proper cover is in the "tagcover" folder instead of the "large" folder. So, I guess check if that one exists. If not check the other one. That should work. Maybe there's a more elegant solution... But at least this doesn't force amarok to have a huge image. I would try but I don't know python and I'm no where as good as you with graphics. Good work and I hope that helps.
at last...thx
You did an awesome job with this one, took an old idea and made it fresh and appealing.
yet slightly disfunctional..lol thanks so much for the compliment.
Great work Beany :-) This was on my wish list also. Have you ever seen CRNI's version? My only request would be a smaller version and art from CRNI'S version. I can't remember the link but CRNI made the original for Samurize.
yeh I could make a smaller version. I just found CRNI's it looks real sweet. it is 220 x 148 @32bpp. I can make it more like my widget here: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Wobachi+Retro?content=56889.
Outstanding!!!
wow..thanks...you sound like a teacher.
I really like it! I'd like to have it in my computer... =)
Neat. So let's see it.
The link in the "download" leads to the screenshot instead of the widget.
that's why I posted in "other" instead of "karamba". If enough people wanted it I would clean it up and post it.
Looks good, I'd like to give it a try
