I think what makes the Vista panel look so nice is that it's half transparent. That would make it fit better to the current background and give it more pleasant colors then just black and grey.
Awesome Vista look for Linux. Not a fan of the Vista OS, but I can't disagree that the Vista look is an excellent job by Microsoft, so I'm glad someone did a Vista skin for GNOME. Great skin with some minor flaws, as some already mentioned, and hopefully there will be an updated version of this pack. Thanks for your hard work on this.
How do you install this package. I am using Ubuntu 7.10 with compiz. The instruction above do not appear to work for this enviroment.
Sorry, but I can't read all comments, you need wait too much time.
sorry, i think i wasn't specific enough. I'll try to explain my problem a bit better so I don't waste your time. when I set the background image in the gnome-panel, it's applied only to the part of the menu button, so the orb looks like it should, but the part of the window list and notification area still has the default theme background (which is bigger than the modified one) so it looks hideous. Can you please tell me what can I do?
Ok... you need set the panel size to 32 pixels.
Great theme, i really dislike micro$oft, but i won't deny the fact that the looks of vista are pretty interesting (yes, the looks, only that). I have a little problem with the gnome-panel, when i set the background image it doesn't affect the whole panel, and it looks weird, besides it's really small, is that normal? can anybody please help me? thanks in advanced for taking the time to read this, keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for providing vista like environment. Linux rules!!! One problem though. Gnome Shutdown window or logout window have strange white and black colored stripes on it. Seems like the picture of panel is being drawn over the window in rows. Any ideas how to get rid of them? Thanks. Keep up the good work.
Your Video Card isn't compatible with Beryl, you need change it or install Linux in other computer. But, you can use this theme without use the emerald theme, and without transparency, that's is very possible. I'm making the version "Light" for old computers. (Pentium II, III, or Celeron)
All the people would like to have Windows Vista by its appearance, but it is a system very unstable, and expensive, reason why with this pack I facilitate the task of having its appearance by a gratuitous price.
Yeah, it's a decent looking theme, and that's why I'm not going to negatively (or positively) rate it. Still -- do we really need Linux to look like another OS? Especially one that sucks as much as Windblows? And I'm not just talking about the Vista-ish themes either -- all the MacOS X exact duplicates aren't any big whoop anymore. I mean, if you really want to have your OS look like Vista or MacOS X, then buy one of those operating systems. So, I address my tirade to the theme designers of this world: please create something original. And those of you doing so, thank you very much for your efforts! :) Peace.
Nice, but... vista again? :/
Yeah, Vista sucks so much... that we have a look-a-like artwork of it, GPL'ed. Irony.
Its a very good transformation pack, I only think that you should change the start icon
But.. the menu button on the screenshots sucks O.o Anyway i haven't downloaded, i have used LiNsta theme for the last months, but now I don't like it anymore.... Do you want my menu-button? You can see in on the screenshot here: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Discover+the+stars?content=62980
Yes, but the first screenshoot is of the version 0.5, it haven't the complete panel. And the second screenshoot is of the version 0.8, with the new panel. You need use the file Vista-Panel.png for the menu.
good job Congratulations M@
The new version has now avalible for the public. I haven't problems with this version, because I only change some files.
