I think it would be good if it were integrated into the current window list applet as a display option - have you seen Gimmie? http://beatniksoftware.com/gimmie/index.html - Gimmie's task-grouping and window management are perfect. Having something similar in gnome-panel would be very nice

I just compiled gimmie -- It looks very promising. One thing I like in gimmie as well as kxdocker is the duality of icons that can both launch the application or maximize/minimize it if it's already running. That might be one thing I could try in the gnome panel.
