Description: This is a mockup of a GUI concept: - Better use of the Dock space (Like the "gimmie-bar", with several applets or modules). - A lighter and simple file manager (Now more useful). - Better and integrated search. - And a better use of the desktop space.
The best things of all systems, programs and more. - - - /// You can see the difference between the original (2nd screenshot) and the mockup ///
The filemanager doesn't look lighter. Quite the contrary, it looks a lot more crowded.
Why disconnect the searchbox from the searchwindow? Makes no sense.
Hi,
great work!
I'm working on a new dock for several platforms including gnome, kde and xfce.
It's called udock.
Find details here:

I'll take your work as an inspiration for my first theme ;-9
Where did the wallpaper come from?
I wish I could make my windows in beryl start with a little bit of transparency by default like your first screenshot has, but I can't figure out how.
It's just like OSX, go buy a Mac. I'm enjoying Gnome as it is.
Great news for you, Gnome as it is is already there. Enjoy it.
And let others think about what could be done to improve it...

The file manager look lighter to me, and well, it's only a mockup!

Could you write a small changelog every time you update this. It's really hard to try to spot the difference each time you update.
I will try to, but my english is not so good to say all the small details.
i want it!! coders please make this true!!!
very cool mockup! isn't this a reality though?
waht did you use to make it look like that?
For the mockup i use "Inkscape 0.43"... And for my real desktop i use Beryl and the "ish" theme.

You can find the wallpaper of the first screenshot here: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=47400 And the 2nd here: http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/7332/calmafterthestormtf5.jpg Good luck.
Where I can find a similar beryl theme?
There are a lot of dark Beryl themes, remember that this is only a mockup... This theme is very close: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=52681
Oh, i forgot... The search is based on Beagle UI.
Well. the latest deskbar-applet has a live beagle search integration already ;)
Here's an example of the live beagle search on my desktop. Aside from the theme and some applet placement it looks somewhat similar to your mockup :) http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/8301/screenshot1fu7.png
