I used the "Ice Age Lilo splash 2" to gimp the Splash Screen, instead of using your "Ice Age Scrat" picture.

For a quick fix for kde 3.2 put the following into
~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/SquirrelSplash/Theme.rc

[KSplash Theme: SquirrelSplash]
Name = SquirrelSplash
Version = 1.0

# Theme behavior settings.
Engine = Default
# Should icons blink?
