Change this one too the Bootsplash section.... Good work. I liked your wallpaper.
But only one suggestion. Cut out the "butterfly". This is not a war against MS.
We are here for idealism.. for dreams of a world without the need of currency..
1) If you cut out the butterfly all you would have is a penguin with a flyswatter and that wouldn't make too much sense.
2) This IS a war on Microsoft.
3) Great theme!
I simply cannot get this theme to work properly on Gentoo, I've been using this Howto:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=49036&highlight=bootsplash
This section:
mount /boot
/sbin/splash -s -f /etc/bootsplash/default/config/bootsplash-1280x1024.cfg > /boot/initrd-1280x1024
always complains about the includeprog lines. I can get the background image to display but the box for the console text is the same as the original theme (so badly coloured and not placed correctly).
KBootsplash doesn't support Gentoo yet unfotrunately :(
I am useing Gentoo too.
syntax error: includeprog /sbin/splashpbm /etc/bootsplash/themes/metall-tux/images/silent-800x600_left.pbm
I do not have the /sbin/splashpbm script!
I hope you will help me, because I really like this bootsplash.

I'm using gentoo also, same probs.
just comment out the 2 includeprog lines and the line "box silent #fffffffff" as it also causes errors. After that it should work.
You can use KBootSplash to install it:
http://kbootsplash.sourceforge.net/
Remember to make a backup of /boot first so you can restore what you had if you find any problem.
I have a problem with "metall-tux" if I use kbootspash I see the error

Very schwag. I think people overlook how effective a nice bootsplash can be... it's a UI element that's entirely eyecandy, but nice splashes such as this one are times where people give Linux a second look as far as its overall "pretty" factor.

You have a wrong how to install instruction. The one you used is the splash screen when KDE starts.

Same problems here. Its a neat one, I'd really like it, but I'm missing the /sbin/splash file :P

Anyone figure out how to change bootsplashes in SuSE 9.1?
You can use KBootSplash to install it: http://kbootsplash.sourceforge.net/ Remember to make a backup of /boot first so you can restore what you had if you find any problem.
Yeah, tried that... doesn't work anymore (the SuSEconfig module is gone, mkinitrd doesn't do the trick)

The images paths in the config files were incorrect. Manually fixed 'em and things should be good now.
What do I have to change ? [Sorry about bad English]
The pathname to the theme was /etc/bootsplash/themes/SuSE, instead of /etc/bootsplash/themes/metall-tux.
Any chance of a 1280x1024 version, which would be great. :)

I say more bootsplashes, dammit!
