Description:
This theme is derived from B2, and looks and feels just the same except for the following changes:

* A double-click action can be associated to the menu button, to close the window or to iconify it

* Unresizable windows do not show the resize handle. Try it with KsCD for example. There is an option to turn off the resize handle completely.

* The title bar uses a gradient if the TitleBlend color is specified, the gradient effect can be choosen from a list

* The titlebar button are hilighted when the mouse pointer is over them

* The window frame thickness can be changed

* The bouding box for transparent movement or resize has the same outline as the window.

I love Be II and I would really like to see this modified version, however, I have not a clue how to install it on my RH 9.0 system :(. I can config/make/install a lot of apps, but I can't get this one working. Can anyone get me going in the right direction. Thank you for your time.

Hi, i like this theme because it is very practicable. Can anyone implement roundet corners for the titlebar, like it is in the Beos OS 3.5 (beta) ? greetings nico

You announce 0.8.2, but the package I just downloaded is 0.8, where is 0.8.2?

mikelima

I seem to have uploaded the wrong version. Sorry for the inconvenience, it should be the correct one this time.

wismerhill

What is that "shaped bounding box" thing?

mikelima

Most of the decorations out there use the default rectangular bounding box when dragging the window around or while resizing it, if the 'transparent move' or 'transparent resize' options are set in the control panel. This one now draws an outline of the actual border of the window.

Hey... just installed BeeToo on Slackware9.0, and there's a strange problem with the sticky button... it appears garbled sometimes. Hard to explain, but if you'd like to see a screenshot email me at stunji AT yahoo DOT com

mikelima

Thank you for the 'bug report'. It is fixed now, sorry for the inconvenience.

I saw in your TODO list (in the archive) that you plan to have the option of having the title bar at the bottom of the window, that would be really cool :-)

mikelima

Yes, it should be relatively easy to do that, and there are precedents for the option in the IceWM window decoration. If you have a look at my screenshots (the one for the BeeToo Brushed theme, freshly added) you will notice that my toolbars are already at the bottom of the windows.

wismerhill

How do you create the .b2effect files? I don't understand them.

mikelima

a .b2effect file is simply a grayscale png image, where white is the Titlebar color, black is the alternate color and gray is a blend of the two. Currently, the image must be tall 18 pixels, and it should be at least 64 pixels wide.

wismerhill

Is it stretched or repeated to fill the whole titlebar?

mikelima

The given tile is repeated as needed to fill the title bar.

Hello, Please take a look at this screenshot: http://www.yellowtab.com/products/showpic.php?name=screenshots/freeciv1.png It would Be (sorry for the pun :-) great if you could make a titlebar like that one for BeeToo. Thanks!

mikelima

I have seen the screenshot, but I must say I am not too fond of that. The button are too small to use, I think. And can the tab slide like in BeeToo? It does not look so. However, it would not be too hard to imitate it, maybe the shape of the tab can be made configurable. I have some other things on my TODO list before that, however.

B II and QtCurve v2 are what I wish for when I use OS X. Wait, that'd just be an improved BeOS interface, wouldn't it? ;-D Seriously, this is great. Small tablike titlebars, very little screen real estate; this is great! And the improvements to look and functionality are just what the doctor ordered. Bravo!

phantomik

It would be great to have option that would make title bar position ``sticky'' (I hate haveing titlebar centered or on rigth side) and customizeable button pictures (I like those beOS ones a lot) , beside those - it is great window decoration, keep up the good work :-)

mikelima

I think it would be easy to 'fix' the position of the title bar, but you would loose the ability to see titlebars of hidden windows. Maybe position could be restored when a window is on the top. About the customizable button, this is more or less on my to-do list. Do you have a Idea where could I look at for those?

runerl

Sweet stuff this B II modification. It's nice to see this brilliant deco still being worked on. Could you make it possible to toggle the resize handle in the window bottom, just like it works in the KDE 2 deco...for resizeable windows that is. Too much screenspace is wasted and the desktop is confusing to look at as both BII and BeToo is now imvho so this would make at least my day. :) Thanks a whole lot Mr. mikelima you are nice

mikelima

Thanks for your comment. About the resize handle, yes, adding an option to turn it off would be feasable, I'll keep your wish in mind for next version.

SynTruth

Okay, how did you get a KMenu on your desktop menubar? Quite curious...

mikelima

It's a new applet in KDE CVS. It has been added yesterday.
