Description: HP Pavilion zd7000 Slackware 10 Xorg 6.8 Xcompmgr 2.2 KDE 3.3.0 Baghira(g)
xcompmgr runs very nicely for about 3 hours and then xcompmgr just stops running, I haven't narrowed down why yet. But it doesn't lock the system it just shuts off composites and kde keeps runnin' If I turn xcompmgr back on at that point, it becomes unstable and within 15 minutes I'll be ssh'ing in and shutting down X. BUT if right after xcompmgr shuts down I can exit X and restart kde, X, and xcompmgr it will run stable again for another 2 - 3 hours.
I was having the same problems with xcompmgr until I said the hell with it and bought an nvidia card, now my xcompmgr runs 10 times better. I still have issues but they are slim to none, I can run it for as long as my xsession last, switch back and forth between virtual consoles and maybe a glitch here and there but nothing major like before.
That solution worked for me but to be honest all that stuff still has a way to go.
I'd bet that baghira looks just as good on your box without the xcompmgr. ;-)
