> 1) they don't provide downloads for > distros except for those wanting to > use the likes of apt, etc. They > provide no link to the file itself > even though they take the time to > break it out by distro. Sad! Congratualations dickhead! You are totally wrong: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/index.php/Download We spend time doing this for people like you even though you are ungrateful shits. Fortunately for you, despite your complete lack of intelligence, resourcefulness or gratitude, we will continue to package amaroK for distros we use, and link to all packages people tell us about. > 2) This program has always been > tremendously buggy. Yeah amaroK is buggy I agree, probably more so than other software. However amaroK is quite complicated and does develop fast, so this tends to lead to more bugs. I don't expect such a dumb-arse as yourself to understand this, but all software has bugs. Also, as a final comment, we are far less buggy than we used to be. > a) It is so bad that people have > addressed the bugs on their web site > and been lambasted by the admin on > that site. Bullshit. Provide links or go to hell for telling complete lies. > b) The changelog does not indicate > that any of the bugs that I have done > with their bug reporting tools have > been fixed. Not a single one. amaroK has about 300 open bugs, none of us have very much time. It's obvious you are a really important person and thus we should obviously prioritise your bugs over, say, bugs that crash amaroK, or bugs that lose data. Oh wait! No I'm wrong, we choose to priotise important bugs! I can understand that your limited intelligence will make you think this is the wrong approach. > As with most linux software it is > being developed by and for the > developer not for the users. Actually, we spend far more time listening to users than most other projects. In fact, since I spend about 40% of my amaroK-time helping people with amaroK related queries, we'd all have a lot more time if we just developed amaroK for ourselves. But we like giving it away, very much. We really want people to like it, so we listen to any feedback they can give us. I've even learnt some things from your disaster of a post. In conclusion you are a sniveling fucking twat and hopefully some bus will run over you and your descendents. We work so hard and comments like yours hurt. I've not been this angry in a long time. If I met you in person I'd rip your fucking arms off. As a disclaimer, I am aware most amaroK users are nothing like this joke for a person. Most of you are really nice and decent people. I hope you will continue to report bugs and understand that we can't fix them straight away.

Actually your comment makes me so pissed due to it's inaccuracies and complete and total ignorance I want to say this too: You are a total twat. Go and die somewhere, hopefully in great pain.

Most bug fixes are in the upcoming 1.3 release of amaroK. 1.2.4 is a temporary minor release for some of the more imporatant bugs.

Since Emusic's download manager is a pain to get to work in linux, is it possible to incorporate it into Amarok? Maybe add a search and download tab? I think it would be a great idea and addition to Linux Audio players. Is it possible?

We are investing so much of resource in developing everything for amarok but its own sound-engine.

It is a lot of problem in it not having its own engine.
1. the system cannot go for standby while it is running.

2. The audio-device is busy even though no song is being played.

3. To keep amarok in the background, all other audio from any applications have to be sacrificed.

I think we need an alternative.

Try using something like ESD to let several apps use the soundcard. Make sure aRts is not running. The best solution would be to buy a soundcard that has hardware mixing capabilities (SB Audigy 2 is working quite good in Linux)

You are confused. All your issues can be solved by using a different multimedia backend, and by correctly configuring your ALSA/OSS setup. Probably all you need to do is switch engine (xine or GStreamer are best). Probably the easiest option is just install a distro that just works like SuSE or Linspire.

We will never make our own sound-engine, it will solve no problems, but create a _huge_ amount of work for us. The GStreamer people have been working for 5 years and still produce a product that won't work for everybody. What makes you think us working on our own would produce better results?

I like to have the playlist and the player windows on seperate desktops, as I just like to drop in what I want to listen to next in the playlist, but like the wee pleyer on the main, however I found that they all 'come back together' when I click on the player window.

I know its picky and no biggy, but could somthing be done about this in the next version or so. OH yeah, great prog, I binned XMMS now.

This is actually a feature, but apparently it isn't xinerama aware. I don't use xinerama but will try to fix it for 1.2.3 if I can.

These rpms works in kde 3.4-rc1, just do:
http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=/Sound/amarok

# rpm -ivh --nodeps amarok-1.2.1-1.guru.suse92.kde33.i686.rpm

Start. When shows error in arts engine, do:

# killall -9 artsd && amarok

Close and init again. Enjoy!

Any news regarding Gwenview's speed issues? (Image antialiasing ~3-4 times slower than mplayer).

I don't want to have to use a media player to get a nice slideshow with decent image filtering... ;-)

I designed the icon after an original artowrk i found a while ago and which had (what i knew at that time) nothing to do with trademark issues or the site elfquest.com

What i didn't know is that this graphic seems to be the graphic the elfquest logo is based on too.

Now there is a big fuss and legal issues and when i visited the elfquest site i got a shiver through my whole body.

A radikal coinsitence and all my fault.

here is the original image i used as a base: http://da-flow.schaekel.org/da-flow/daten/wolf.jpg

I'm sorry man, the icon was really cool (in fact I hacked my amaroK 1.2.1 installation to use the old one). This kind of things can happen, there's no need for anyone to get angry for this.
