Description:

UPDATE: as more people get involved into this project, it needs some organisation and version management. A sourceforge project should be opened soon.

This is a full screen front end for Amarok. The look can be changed by custom THEMES.

INSTALL:
to build from source, you need Qt3 development files (IT WILL NOT WORK WITH QT4!!), kde development files (dcopclient.h) and the g++ compiler. Just run "make" to compile the program. If it doesn't work, try running "qmake" (or "qmake-qt3") first and then "make".
For installation run "make install" (requires root priviliges)
To run the program just run "amarokFS". An entry in the start-menu should also be created (may depend on distro, tested on ubuntu).

You can find openSuse 10.2 rpm-packages on http://ftp.huessenbergnetz.de/pub/paketdepots/suse/openSUSE_10.2/
(many thanks to Buschmann)

http://goondy.free.fr/gentoo/ebuilds/amarokFS-qt3-0.4.2.ebuild

Same as before, just previous renamed.
Yeah I know, Gentoo is great ;)

@comar961: if you don't want to change the link for ebuild every version, you can link the download to this url : http://goondy.free.fr/gentoo/ebuilds
Use the solution you prefer, it's the same for me.

For Gentoo users : renaming the ebuild is (or should be) enough as long as there are no new dependancies.

Does that ebuild work if you have qt4 installed? I had a headache getting this to build on gentoo with qt3 and qt4 next to each other.

Report

Yes, I also have qt4, no problem ;)

First of all, thanks for this! One suggestion, though:

In amfs-xml.cpp:473 you're assuming cover previews are 100px sized. I think you should change the replace call from

replace("cache/[email protected]", "large/");

to

replace(QRegExp("cache/[0-9]*@"), "large/");

I already tried and this works OK with my 150px sized previews.

PS: please excuse my poor English.

Is there a way to change the font? Thank you for a great app!

the default theme is stored in /usr/local/share/amarokFS

but you can create your own. just read the instructions: /usr/share/doc/amarokFS/theme-howto.txt
or you can download the theme-pack to see how the themes work

Thanks, whatever you did, did the trick. It built and it works.
Thank you!

It doesn't seem to work with covers from Last.fm radio (streaming). I guess that's because you're reading the images from the hard disk?
Is there a way to get the "streaming" cover with DCOP calls?

Great app anyways :-)

when you're playing a lastfm-stream, the dcop function returns just "nocover.png"

(exactly the same, i just changed the name)

By the way, I would have prefered a context menu to the sentence "go to left corner to change the theme", but it's just my mind.

I can't compile this on gentoo amd64.

It seems, that he want's to use qt4.

Though QTDIR is set to /usr/qt/3

Thanks

try running /usr/qt/3/bin/qmake
at least that worked for me (Gentoo x86)

Try my ebuild in the previous message ;)
And tell me if it's ok.

I tried the ebuild, put it in my portdir overlay.
Worked like a charm after I did an ebuild digest on it.

Cheers!

Use the qmake of your qt3.
I think there is /usr/qt3/bin/qmake.

Hi,
I have resolution 1600x1200 and installed Beryl Manger. It's not working under B.M yet :-(. Maybe Beryl Bug?
