Description:

UPDATE: as more people get involved into this project, it needs some organisation and version management. A sourceforge project should be opened soon.

This is a full screen front end for Amarok. The look can be changed by custom THEMES.

INSTALL:
to build from source, you need Qt3 development files (IT WILL NOT WORK WITH QT4!!), kde development files (dcopclient.h) and the g++ compiler. Just run "make" to compile the program. If it doesn't work, try running "qmake" (or "qmake-qt3") first and then "make".
For installation run "make install" (requires root priviliges)
To run the program just run "amarokFS". An entry in the start-menu should also be created (may depend on distro, tested on ubuntu).

You can find openSuse 10.2 rpm-packages on http://ftp.huessenbergnetz.de/pub/paketdepots/suse/openSUSE_10.2/
(many thanks to Buschmann)

Well, this might be a problem in beryl or the qt-library. If this is the case then there is only little I can do.

I'll have to test this.

hi,

logo.png, logoB.png and gradient.png cannot be changed, right now, they're hard-coded. The reflection is made by an ugly hack and cannot be changed by themes.

added as a feature request :)

Hi,
I like the idea.
However, why not developping the script as a plugin, instead of a standalone application using DCOP calls ?

A plugin would has access to a larger set of amarok's core functionnalities (database, satistics, etc...)

mainly i think because of usability... you would probably have to patch the amarok sources and recompile it... also patching the sources is harder (imho) then making this standalone and dcop...

and also compiling amarok is not an option for everybody...

im just very happy as it is and develops right now :)

Hi
I created a theme, some problems:
logo.png, logoB.png and gradient.png are NOT changed.I changed them in my theme...no success.
and for commands, please give the buttons ability to run DCOP commands.i mean, instead of play(), we say:
'amarok player play' (dcop should add automatically).
with this we can make lots of other buttons/functionalities.
and some DCOP functions for amarokFS itself, like quit function.then i can create a quit button and call:
'amarokFS quit'
Please continue giving Ubuntu Packages.

and the theme:
To install theme, please copy it in your home folder, and extract it.then go to ~/.amarokFS/ There is a font at there.install it and run amarokFS.
Theme is based on NuvoeXT Icon theme.

And the Package itself:

Love the changes. Still highly usable and not "cluttered"

Can't wait to see some skins!

that's a great app! hope it sees its way into amarok package some day

there's some issues with baghira theming engine though: the backdrop isn't black as supposed to but get the baghira touch (brushed steel in my case)

also a config for the theme would be nice

make a nice collection browser. i think of a browser which is like the cover manager. only a list of the covers on which you can click to play the full album randomly or ordered (option)

I'd like to control volume via mouse scrool button. On notebooks and some pc there is no hardware volume control and using mouse is much more comfortable than using shortcuts.

I'm still getting DCOPClient errors.
The file is in /usr/include/kde, where is the app looking for it in?

the dcopclient.h is searched in:

/usr/include/kde
/usr/local/include/kde
/usr/include
/opt/kde3/include
/opt/kde/include
/usr/kde/3.5/include

hmm, odd. It is in /usr/include/kde.
It doesn't make sense unless the versions are different. What version do you have and what package did you get it from?

* Disable OSD messages from Amarok and use its own.
* Add a button to exit the program (and not only ESC button).
* Allow to customize fonts and colors.
* Some kind of cover animation?
* And please, make it as screensaver :).

Some changes to the Makefile were necessary for Amarok Full Screen to compile under Arch Linux.
Where should I post?
Maybe there should be a configure script?

Report

C

you can post it right here or send me an email.

unfortunately "./configure" isn't posible at this time. The automake-tools and qt don't work together very well.

Oh, and the executable, amarokFS, should be lowercase. :D

A collection of ideas:
* Make amarokSF come with a screensaver, too.
* When you type, make amarokSF search through Amarok tracks so that you can select them. For example, the way Katapult does this is nice. But no, I have no full idea of how you would implement this with the interface.

Note also that the install craps out if you sudo make install, at least on some setups.

Report

yeah, it doesn't compile with Qt4. You need to compile it with Qt3.

Ok, I compile with Qt3 >

/home/my/Desktop/amarokFS-qt3-0.3 # /usr/lib/qt3/bin/qmake

and after, with make command:
# make
g++ -c -pipe -O2 -march=i586 -mtune=i686 -fmessage-length=0 -Wall -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -g -fno-strict-aliasing -Wall -W -O2 -march=i586 -mtune=i686 -fmessage-length=0 -Wall -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -g -fno-strict-aliasing -DQT_NO_DEBUG -I/usr/lib/qt3/mkspecs/default -I. -I/usr/include/kde -I/usr/local/include/kde -I/usr/include -I/opt/kde3/include -I/opt/kde/include -I/usr/include -I/include -o cb.o cb.cpp
In file included from cb.cpp:21:
cb.h:4:21: error: qwidget.h: No existe el fichero o el directorio (There are not the file or directory)
cb.h:5:20: error: qlabel.h: idem

etc..

I am nooby in this way
Thanks
