Hello Great app. I like so much, but I am having some annoying behaviours: *)I had a lot of music indexed in bangarang, few days later I removed some songs from my hard disk. The problem is many of those erased mp3 files are still indexed on bangarang. I am tried erasing the folder .kde4/share/apps/bangarang but it did not work. The app still has indexed the named files. *)The playlist is not kept playing. So then, I must do click over each song when the previous one has finished. (this is very annoying) I am on Archlinux x86, KDE 4.8.3 and I am using the latest git commit of Bangarang Greetings
This might not be about Bangarang, but about Nepomuk. I had similar issues with other applications using Nepomuk.
Right now I'm not using it, but I know you did a great job with nepomuk. I think this is the best. I like this app. Great job. I'll wait news about this software.
Nice app congrats, I can try packaging it in rpms for mandriva, fedora and suse, can you ,please add a deps list ? Mabe the versions of the deps ,also? It would be much easier for packaging. Thx in advance
Thanks much for the kind words. The deps should be listed when cmake is run.
Thx sorry to bother you , rpm it is already available , build by rosa packagers.
Two thumbs up! And a big thank you. ;)
I don't like the default setup for the playing toolbar, but it isn't customizable, and icons can't be customized to be narrower... Why? Am I doing something wrong?
Oh no, you're not doing anything wrong. The controls are not designed to be customized. Sorry it's not working for you.
Hi (sorry for my bad english !) I installed Bangarang for test. nice player ;) I test playging video in full screen mode. video finished, I can't return to normal mode. I must start video again for restore window mode. on my computer no problem with much video format. in my Samba network, I can read the name of files But I see my networkgroup name for each files ! I test with network video. sound ok but I haven't got image. bug or not ? regards
The samba filename problem should be fixed in the latest release.
Thanks for the great app, it rocks :) But i have a short question: if i index a folder which contains *.webm video files, these files are not shown under video, in no category. how can i solve this?
Just checked on this. It looks like, at the moment, Bangarang doesn't recognize the video/webm mimetype as video for indexing purposes. It's a trivial one-line fix so I'll include it in the nextbugfix release.
Just a 'heads up!' for this fantastic piece of software, without any bug reports or wish lists. :-) Keep up the good work, many people seem to be enjoying this!
I tried to add Vimcast to Bangarang and it turned out that * adding the Ogg/Theora¹ feed does not work at all. * while adding the Quicktime² feed works, but doesn't set the title. 1 — http://vimcasts.org/feeds/ogg 2 — http://vimcasts.org/feeds/quicktime
Hi there , you made a really nice app it's my default music player :), but you should add the possibility to watch a folder and automatically add the new song or movie I put in the folder.
Hi, Looking for a nice videoplayer with good playlist support, I decided to try out bangarang once again. Last time I tried, I gave up because of missing keyboard support, so I hoped things had improved a bit in that area. And now I can indeed do the most basic control using keyborad, that is pause and mute, and go to next/previous item in my playlist. And indeed bangarant supports playlists, once one finds out how to manage them - at first I had problems finding out how to open a file from the gui at all. So I may use bangarang for a while. Here are some suggestions that would make me a happier user: 1. More keyboard support - volume control, show/hide playlist with a single key, switch back and forth between "media lists" and player with a single key (currently the alt + KEY shortcuts are changing when switching, which is bad). 2. OSD display - volume, pause/play, general information - the media name + where in it I am would be good info to have. 3. When switching file, please display the title and length for the new file! Just a brief OSD display. 4. Make it easier to select a playlist. Currently I have to select a list, and then "play all" - doubleclick/return to play the selected list would be fine. 5. I love the ability to edit the media name, as some files have long and ugly names. Currently bangarang does not keep the name though, so actually saving that information when I press Save would be cool ;) 6. What does indexing do for me? I can't figure that out! Possibly related, what means "save onthologies" and "remove selected info"??? All that said, I find bangarang a very promising media player, the basic idea is really good, so I hope it will keep evolving, and I hope you can use my ideas as inspiration!

If possible, could you report this problem on the issue tracker at http://code.google.com/p/bangarangissuetracking/issues/list ? Then it will have the full attention of the team. Thanks much!
Trying out 2.0 beta 1 right now, I really like it! You should have a way to assign tags inside bangarang, but other then that it is quite nice. Do you plan to add a music visualizer in later versions? (when phonon supports it...) If so, please add this!!! http://projectm.sourceforge.net/
yes please, add that and the ability to move the toolbar widgets around and I shall drop amarok :D
After tagging a few movies from my collection in Bangarang, I remembered it'd be a lot cooler if it could automatically fetch the data from IMDB (or CDDB for audio).
So far Bangarang seems like a really media player and I probably use it equally as often as Dragon (and SMplayer only when those two don't work good enough). What bothers me though is that I only use it for playing video, so when the 'audio' tag opens every time I start Bangarang it takes me one click more to make it usable. Could you please make an option in the settings for the user to chose whether he would like to see audio, video or both tabs presented?
Thanks for the feedback! I'll have the app remember the state of the selected Audio/Video tab. (grr - it's taking forever for my replacement laptop to arrive so I can continue working on 2.0) :-)
Sorry I'm kinda new with nepomuk, what do you mean in your third point? What is and how do I get a functioning nepomuk repository?
