1 She's DEAD, Jim. Get SoundConverter instead.

My version 3.0.1 that I have on my Debian 10 KDE no longer has converter options within the same directory. It was way more practical when it was possible to select the option "Delete original file". What happened to this very important feature?

I like this application and the ergonomy. The application does the job, but the file picker does NOT work well. I don’t know if is a Plasma bug.

kde 4.14.13 qt4 4.8.7 works perfect Updated in RosaLinux Thanks
Did you build the soundKonverter in QT 5 for KDE5 ? I work for Pisi Linux and we have not porting the kde4libs to the new Pisi Linux 2.0.
No, sorry, I don't have time for that.
I have a song with a ? in the title and it appears to not be escaped when passed to ffmpeg? /mnt/Shared/MEDIA/Music (Lossless)/FLAC/10,000 Maniacs/Campfire Songs/Disc 1 - 7 - What's the Matter Here?.flac: No such file or directory Conversion failed. Exit code: 1
I cant install it on Kubuntu 15.10, I try to compile the QT5 branch and get this error "Tell CMake where to find the compiler by setting either the environment variable "CXX" or the CMake cache entry CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER to the full path to the compiler, or to the compiler name if it is in the PATH.", I install all dependences, but the "taglib" is called libtag in the Kubuntu's repos and cant install the .deb package
Sorry, but the qt5 branch is not ready to be used. And by the looks of the error message you don't have gcc/g++ installed.
I resolve it; first, execute in konsole "sudo apt-get install kdemultimedia-dev libkcddb4 libkcddb-dev cdparanoia libcdparanoia-dev libtag1-dev lame twolame opus-tools gettext" then, download a x64 package from http://is.gd/Ru4guk , then force install with sudo dpkg -i --force-all soundkonverter_2.1.90-1_amd64.deb I execute it with soundkonverter or in app launcher
Now I really resolve this: first, execute in konsole " sudo apt-get install kdemultimedia-dev libkcddb4 libkcddb-dev cdparanoia libcdparanoia-dev libtag1-dev lame twolame opus-tools gettext " ; Next install this .deb: " https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz6g-hlhahaURGd3dXRTVDJVQm8/view?usp=sharing " ; I fixed the dependences
Out of interest, do you plan on porting SoundKonverter to Qt and Frameworks 5?
There is a qt5 branch on github (depends on frameworks 5, too). Though I don't have the time to work on it at the moment. Also this branch is more than just a port, it's a partial re-write.
Hi! I see that installing soundkonverter in Debian testing pulls in mplayer2. Do you plan to switch soundkonverter to mpv which is the active project unlike mplayer2 these days? Thanks.
Thanks for the hint, I'll put mpv compatibility on my todo list. Where did you install the .deb from? I never tested soundkonverter with mplayer2 but since it can be used as drop-in replacement for mplayer (as far as I know) it seems the packager just pulled mplayer2 in.
I installed it from the Debian testing repo directly. Debian doesn't package mplayer at all and packages mplayer2 instead. mplayer2 however is now a dead project and actually mpv is more advanced and actively developed than either of mplayers. You can see more about it here: https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/blob/master/DOCS/man/changes.rst
possible to get a version without all the kde dependencies? sort of like how kid3 offers kid3-qt, or some other way?
I'm sorry but that's not possible, soundKonverter relies on some important features provided by KDE.
Hi, nice stuff you developed, thanks. I'm missing one thing: a possibility to evaluate metadata-fields and then insert according to this evaluation like: [%z!=%a?%z - : ] to insert '%z - ' only if %z differs from %a else insert ' ' Thanks for your precious time
I'll keep it in mind but I don't have much time at the moment. If you want to make sure that I won't forget it, you should file a feature request at https://github.com/HessiJames/soundkonverter/issues
