Description:

* FEATURES:
This is an image Kde servicemenu which allows to:
- compress images,
- resize images,
- convert images,
- rotate images,
- rename images,
- resize and send by mail images,
- and more other actions !
This servicemenu use ImageMagick and Mpegtools.

Ok, but try to install Kim with sudo:

sudo ./install

However, installation as root should work ... I will verify this ...

Yup.

sudo ./install.sh yields a sleugh of command line errors.

su login and then nun tries to install but the install fails.

well,everything works great now(it was a pain in the nuts to go and copy the files to proper directories (/opt/kde/>>),but all worth it!

install failed here too. first i should edit install.sh and give full path to kde-config and kdialog. then there is something wrong with kdialog part and I replaced it with:

Type=${1} ${2} $3}

for 1=intall; 2=1+plugins and 3=uninstall

now everthing works with:
./install.sh 3 && ./install.sh 2

checked so far flash slideshow, seems must keep in mind that works good only with landscape images.

haha,I am using slack based distro as root.I dont have sudo here.Only su.
Seems like some people are with (k)ubuntu here lol.//

Kim didnt want to install because it couldnt find kdeinstall directory.
In slack based distros kde is installed at /opt/kde
Thankfully the installation script was fairly simple and all it did was copying files.
I just started konqueror as root and I copied all teh files to the proper directories and gave them permisions to be readable for users/group.
Now kim works.I wonder how can I make a tgz package,so the next guy after me doesnt have to go through all the fuss lol.
Now kim works fine,but when i try to create an animated gif I get:cannot find Kim_multyburst.

kim adds 5 items to the 'action' menu list which seems a bit much for a single service menu addon. Maybe you could consider a single kim menu with sub menus

Yes, I agree but I don't know how to create submenus in service-menus. If someone knows how to do this ...

When is this gonna work for kde 3.4 or 3.5?
Long time,no update...most people r using 3.4 now.I wanna install it from a long time,but i get error after error on my 3.4...

Is it possible someone make a slack tgz package...

It works fine on any version of KDE as far as I tested it. I have used it on KDE 3.4.3 through 3.5.0 so far... no problem with it ;)

I've made an unofficial package of Kim for Ubuntu. They can be installed using my repository :

deb http://raphink.free.fr/packages ./

Thank you very much for this nice piece of software :) Just a comment though. I use UTF-8 on a Kubuntu machine, and I don't get the French accents when using Kim in Konqueror. Could you have a look at this bug? Thanks :)

Hi,
yesterday I couldn't install your soft. I found the reason:on your script you use the kdeinstdir variable. On my debian this variable donesn't exist. So I have to do this command:

kdeinstdir=`kde-config --prefix`

on root before beginning the install and now it works. Perrhaps you could add this in your script or add a verification of the existence of the variable for the newbie which doesn't go to modify a script.

which lib did you mean with this name?
On my Debian I have libmpeg2-4 - mpeg2dec & gstreamer mpeg2dec but the "Screen movie recorder" always generate a 0k mpeg :/

your tool is very handy and I use it a lot. I would be great if you could add some features in the "images in pdf" function.

e.g.:
- images covering the full extent of the pdf
- images covering just the left half and metainfos are displayed on the right half of the pdf

Hello,
You can call all Kim functions from a console. For example, if you want to make an animated screenshot, call "kim_record" in a shell !
However, for the moment, all functions do not have the form "kim_name-of-function". The major parts have the old form "kimgsm_name-of-function" !
Here is the list of Kim function available in a shell:
kimgsm_flipflop kimgsm_rotate kimgsm_rename
kimgsm_multiburst kimgsm_treatment kim_record
kimgsm_album kimgsm_other kimgsm_webexport
kimgsm_compress kimgsm_resize kim_record_mpg
