There is another project called waterworks.
This is how it works.
You design your site in inkscape and use the align bars as some form of marker then you save the svg and you export a png also when you use whaterworks it will read the svg and png slice them up and generate an html file of your design
(A WYSIWYG HTML Designer) but it only does the layout i have contacted the developer about help in mergeing my project and his as mine takes care of the code and his the design put them together and a bit of work all problems solved.
Who know depending on when he gets back to me it could be days , weeks untill we have something really cool to play with.

The url for waterworks.

This is just a progress report of what i have eather fixed or broken :). Um that last little bug when you typed in the editor before you eather opend or created a new project has been fixed. Redwolf WebStudio has undergone some ide design changes. You will now be able to resize or fullscreen the editer and everything else resizes with it. There is a bunch of new menu functions youl see later when i update this page. The developer of waterworks joined with me. Waterworks is COOL what you do is design the layout of your site all graphice buttons etc etc and you use the vertical and horizontil guide lines in inkscape to set were you want your graphics cut and then save the svg file and export a png file and load the svg and png file into waterworks wich is being intagrated in redwolf and select a dir to save to now you just hit the exacute button and your inkscape templet is slice and diced and out come a hole dir of png or jpeg and a index.html file when you view the html file you have your whole site lade out in valid xhtml :) then you just load all that up in redwolf and start adding content. Note:We dont need no stinking WYSIWYG html editor we have INKSCAPE!!!! Ahh and one more thing dont go looking for the update up there because i need a couple more days to well write tutorials and docs. The next version will be 0.0.5 till then

waiting for a good webpage designer with WYSIWYG Designer. The mozilla and NVU are limited for me no option for creating Web menu I will follow the evolution of your program for creating a RPM for Suse

comtux

I have Web Menus on the list :)

Quanta does have a visual mode so you havne't been stuck with NVU. Primarily it lacks good RMB interaction and some integration. However it is extensively scriptable and also templates can be used with it. The idea is to have users add functionality, which should get better as we bring KNewStuff online. It also can do full W3C compliance unlike NVU. Since Quanta uses KHTML the real advances to where it's better than Dreamweaver in this mode are with the upcoming Webcore changes and KDOM. That means the real interesting stuff with Quanta like real time XSLT are scheduled for KDE 4.

I have one question: is Quanta A WYSIWYG HTML Designer or it will be? Thank you. lumiwa

amantia

Quanta is a generic XML/script editor and has a WYSIWYG like functionality for (X)HTML pages. Although it works, it has some rough edges, partly because the internal code of Quanta, and partly because the KHTML support for editing HTML, but this improves. Except a big improvement in Quanta4.

sequitur

First of all I don't like the term WYSIWYG because it's a fallacy with HTML. It could only be applied to desktop publishing like Scribus or very strict CSS. It's also painful to type 15 times in a reply. We call ours VPL for "Visual Page Layout" because that's what it really is, and because WYSIWYG has a reputation for mangling markup and we handle things differently. Having said that Quanta was the first native tool on Linux with visual page development in KDE 3.2, but it's taken several incarnations of KHTML improvements and integration to make small progress. Quanta VPL processes only the nodes you edit leaving the rest of your markup alone and it produces strict W3C compliant markup as per your DTD. It is handling the complexity of doing things to this degree that have slowed interface issues. As Andras said, Webcore and KDOM improvements mean the version in KDE 4 should offer an amazing user experience. In the meantime perhaps RedWolf will be able to do some fun things, being lighter and not so entangled with all the constraints we have to deal with. I hope to check it out soon.

Yes i know of http://kdewebdev.org but i dont like quanta so i started building my own.

Umm i have no idea why that got posted 3 times anyway in the tests that i have been doing in the area of a wysiwyg designer i am about 50% farther than quanta. In this first stage. There is only 3 basic features that i am missing due to the current status of gambas2 once the syntax highlighting and line numbering components are compleated ill be able to implament them features also about 90% of my editor isnt even put together i posted it now so i can be sure that the whole layout and basic functions are on the right track. And i mean basic.

Good for you. It's good to see something else being done on KDE to keep it diverse, though I also like additional help for our project. As far as not liking Quanta... Did you even send me an "I don't like your program because... " email? ;)

comtux

sequitur i would of liked to help with quanta but i have very little programming knoledge this project was to help me learn. I never sent you an email about why i didnt like quanta but ill tell you why now to me quanta just doesnt feel right in useability althou i like quanta more than nvu or any of the other html editros i felt that i needed to contribute to the community more. So i figured why not create an html editor. Now Quanta and RedWolfWEbDev share something special well actualy the only differantces are the gui and features quanta i do bleave can show flash my editor cant at the momemt do to no flash plugin intergration in gambas yet. Plus as our projects progress you will see that we are on very differant paths your developing a pro web dev tool i am developing a learning tool. Thanks for the comments and i hope quanta crushes macromedia fully someday. :)
