rekonq is a web browser for KDE based on WebKit.

Wondering the same. Tried some PPAs that had 0.5.1 and 0.5.0 but they gave dependency errors. I think one required the beta backports, but I certainly don't want to add that ppa.

what ppa was that? I find 0.4.95 as the latest when I search. I tried to build from source but it wants to pull in x number of qt stuff

they both seem to require you install the KDE 4.5 RC from the Kubuntu Beta PPA - I have not done that

have no glitches with Digg etc - only thing it seems to chew a lot of cpu when you open a new tab, then it "settles" once it has loaded.

And flash-on-click crashes but that may be related to something else.

Kubuntu 10.04 with KDE 4.4.5

It works but I'm getting glitches, which either has to do with the packaging or with rekonq or with my system. E.g. the scrollbar sometimes doesn't adopt my system color theme. And rekonq always crashes when trying to load Digg.

It crash when I write a letter in the URLbar. It may work for some, but not me (I use the latest .95 and Xfbdev as X server). An assert fail:

Rekonq will crash accessing flash content if one is using Flash 10.1. Seems to be a qtwebkit bug

Just a followup, QT4 has a qtwebkit patch that fixes rekonq crashing when using flash 10.1

I really like this browser and thank you so much for this project BUT i must complain about something ;) The JavaScript performance is atrocious, have you ever thought about using some opensource javascript engines ? For example google's V8 which we all know performs VERY good. Please think about that

I just read some posts about V8 and it doesn't seem likely that it will get implemented and as i understand it it would rather much work adding V8?

Is it possible to implement something so that the browser effectively does NOT inherit the KDE color scheme? It would be useful for users of dark schemes so that pages would render as if they inhereited light theme elements. A lot of websites idiotically set text color to black without setting the background to a light color which makes text unreadable.

Perhaps this can be done by providing a bunch of style sheets by default?

1. Rethink the way the "previews" on a speed dial are add.

It's not evident now how to do that... Why don't to chose a methode used in Opera? Click on the "preview", select a related site. done.
2. Use a kde-sonnet to check the spelling.
3. Current password management implementation is weak if one should store more than one account per site.

I love that I can click on the RSS icon in the url bar in order to add a feed to Akregator or Google Reader.How can one add Amarok or another Podcast client to that "Aggregator" drop-down list?

Hello, I'd like to tell you thanks to share you work with us. I was looking for a Browser like Chromium for KDE and this is perfect. You're working very fast and the browser has a lot of things that I want. Thank you very much.

I just have one problem. When I try to save one file I can't do it. The browser opens the windows but when I press save button the file is not stored in my hard disk :D.

If you create a new website I'd be pleasant to try the software and report bugs. Take care and thank you very much again :D

I've tried your browser, it goes really fast and it's much more intuitive than konqueror.

But it still some problème, it's totally impossible to use rekonq to sell item on ebay (belgium) and there is some problème with gmail

If I choose "Configure rekonq" all of the fonts are set to A. D Mono size 12 and the apply button is clickable.
This makes it imposible to change other settings without making the font look absolutely horrid.I didn't have this problem in version 4.0.
This can be reproduced if you delete/move your rekonq config file and then launch rekonq.

Rekonq 0.4.80 now has become my preferred browser.

The sub-menus from the favorites opens now all to the left and don't overlap the main menu any longer. That was really annoying before.THX for this.

Your solution to save favorites to the favorite tab is also well managed.

What I would like to have for Rekonq now would be, an behavior of the url bar like Firefox, if you have installed the Locationbar² addon:

I installed from the ppa and I can not translate into Spanish
I also need an icon that represents more than a web browser, the icon rather couples the logo of some game

if you need some help with the development people can get help, only a private message and can make an initiative by saying something like "rekonq needs you"

Hello!
I use rekonq and it very much is pleasant to me. I consider that this one of the best applications for kde.
I use kde 4.4.3 and bespin as a design resource for this reason I had some wishes to developers rekonq, you can see them on following picture

Recently digged through features of upcoming qt-4.7 and found that nice thing (if you haven't heared of it before) called qt-declarative aka qml.

Lokking at it seems like if rekonq's gui will be written using it - it will be able to introduce extensions similar to those in firefox (xul based).

Those xul based extensions are much more powerful, then what chromium have. what do u think about such idea?

Thanks for doing this, I really miss a well-integrated, usable KDE browser, and Rekonq is shaping up nicely ;)

A few mixed remarks:
1. html5 vids support? ok, it probably don't depends from rekonq itself, but from KDE/phonon/xine/whatever. Any news?
2. Is there a way to add new search engines, like, say, yubnub?
3. Clicking the address bar should select the text in there.
4. There should be a way to block single images of objects, like the adblock extension in Firefox.
5. The galaxy view in Ogame is broken :( - it should be a webkit issue the same happens in Chromium.
6 beta. There should be some integration with popular web services like google reader or del.icio.us. Then:

Hi,

Glad you like rekonq.

1. Depends on the Packaging of Qt/Phonon in your distribution. There are "rumours" that with Qt 4.7 the situation will be better

2. Yes, this is possible in the settings dialog. Currently you need to add the search site yourself, but for Version 1.0 (the one after 0.5) it is planned to create web shortcuts by right-clicking on the search field of a website.

3. You can open a bug/wish about this on bugs.kde.org. :-)

4. This is planned for 1.0 too (http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/rekonq/Roadmap)

5. As you mentioned, there is nothing the devs can do about this, since it is a WebKit.

6. There is some work going on, for supporting Chrome extensions, but it won't be in 0.5. Maybe 1.0
