The previous post gives an ls of all the files in /opt/GuitarScaleExpert I can go to the file and copy it and this is the paste output... /opt/GuitarScaleExpert/GuitarScaleExpert The file is executable (application/x-executable) and is owned by root with read and write access and executable permissions.

Try giving execute permissions to the user. BTW I tried on Ubuntu 12.04 and it works without problems.
Ok, tried on my 12.04 install and works. Don't know why it doesn't work in 12.10. Looks good. I installed timidity but the play button is still greyed out. Thanks.
You must first click on "view" then you will be able to play the scale.
