Description: lyricviewer adds extended Lyric support into amarok. After fetching lyrics from the internet, you can view lyrics of any file that you have previously gotten lyrics for. This is an extension to the default of showing only the lyrics for currently playing song. This support viewing lyrics for multiple songs at once. REQUIRES: html2text: http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~mbayer/tools/html2text.html Requires SVN version with a revision >=439781 (When dcop call was committed) PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK! Whats good? Whats bad? What should I add? Thanks to madpenguin8 for the assistance in scripting this.Last changelog:
0.1 Initial Beta release. 0.2 Now uses html2text instead of lots of sed expressions, Moved menu from "View" -> "Lyrics" to "Lyrics" "View" Changed dialog to have nicer dimensions.
I use Ubuntu, do I have to install the python-dcop package?
If I try to install that package, it conflicts with the python2.4-sip4-qt3 package, which is needed by python-qt3
I downloaded this script, and when I install it it sais "Lyrics Viewer Loaded"
By checking the lyricviewer.sh file I noticed this:
If I excecute this command on the shell:
$dcop amarok playlist shortStatusMessage "Lyrics Viewer Loaded"
I can see "Lyrics Viewer Loaded" in amarok status bar
However, if I type this command:
$dcop amarok script addCustomMenuItem "Lyrics" "view"
I get 'object not accessible'
I'll appreciate any help, your script seems great, but I can't make it work
Also, could you please make the script try to show the lyrics in the USLT/TEXT ID3 first of fetching them from the internet or from the cache?
You need amaroK 1.3beta3 or svn, It appears you are running a 1.2 version of amaroK. You do not need python anything for this script, only bash and html2text.

in my kde there's no kfmexec, but dcop is available. http://cvs.pld-linux.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/SOURCES/lyricviewer-dcop.patch
